"Scarlet" the man with the gentle face said "did you steal my best sword?" His voice had a slight chuckle. Scarlet looked up her hair tied in braids.
"No papá" she says smiling a smile that only children have. Her father smiles patting his youngest child on the head. He lifted her onto his shoulders, she laughed wildly and grabbed his hair.
"So Scarlet guess what we're doing today" he said walking with her still on his shoulders.
"Going on the boat!" Scarlet said happily. Her father chuckled nodding his head as they reached the boat the child was jumping with excitement."You promised!!" Scarlet yelled at her mother "you said me and papá could go work on swordplay!" The eight year old glared at the tired woman in front of her; the woman sighed looking at her.
"Niña..." She said "go then!" She waves the child away. Scarlet runs out the door towards the edge of town where her father was working in his makeshift blacksmith workshop.
"Papá!" She yelled running over and standing in front of him. Smiling. Soon she is learning how to go on the offense instead of defense. At least two are relaxing Scarlet is sitting at her fathers feet watching him steer the boat. She climbs up the mast sitting on it as to watch the sea and the waves. She allows herself to fall off it. She lands on her brother laughing as he tried pushing her off. She stood up running to the front of the boat letting the water spray her face closing her eyes and loving every part of it she loved coming out here.
Saddened people filled the square. The girl in front was crying absolute despair engulfing her. Her father was dead and she couldn't do anything to save him. Oh she wished that he would come back but no it doesn't work that way.
