Giselle's POV

I stared hard at my reflection, trying to point out any imperfections. I can't look a mess on my first day!

I got out my list.

*Don't trip on anything. 16 years as a ballerina should be used at an advantage.

*Try not to let your trust issues get in the way of making some real friends. You know what friends are right? Real monsters. Not your reflection in the mirror.

I tutted at my self-criticism. Horatio's voice echoes in my head every now and again:

Perfection or nothing.

I don't need to loosen up, I'm fine just the way I am. If I choose to rehearse till midnight, it is my decision.

"Giselle, honey! Breakfast!" I heard my mother before grabbing my black handbag.

"Coming!"

I simply danced a ballet move (in this case a pirouette) and in a puff of blue smoke I was sitting on the counter munching an apple.

"Anyway dear, I've made some pancakes."

"Oh, thank you." I quickly ate it.

I gave my mother a hug "Bye! I'm going!"

"Good luck on your first day!" I opened the door "Thanks mom, I will!"

I did a quick arabesque and I was there. In front of the gates of Monster High. I walked through the halls, monsters staring at me and whispering. I cloaked my undeniable fear with a confident yet elegant floating style. I smiled at those who I thought seemed nice.

There were TV screens above lockers and suddenly, I saw myself on it, I tried not to freak out by the ghost next to me with a microphone talking.

"Hello Monster High. This is Spectra Vondergeist live with the new ghoul at school: Giselle Phantom. She's a teenage Prima Ballerina! So Giselle, how are you liking M.H?"

"I literally just walked in but so far I find it very beautiful."

"Is it true that you dance like somebody who's danced Ballet for thirty years?"

"That depends on the spectator."

"Is it true that you can cast spells with every dance you do?"

"Yes."

"Is it true that-" A werecat ghoul cut in the camera with a banshee boy

"Okay, Spectra. Enough with the interrogation." The ghoul took me out of the camera. I flinched when she touched me.

"Hey, chill out. Are you okay?"

"Yes, now excuse me." I brushed past them both and walked into the ghoul's bathroom and looked in the mirror.

I could just imagine Horatio there instead of my reflection, yelling how I'll never make friends.

"Hey there. I know that you must have been in some kind of trauma that makes you have problems trusting people. I've been there. But I assure you, I'm not bad."

It took me a few minutes to process what she just said. I stuck out my hand "Giselle Phantom."

"Zoey Wolfstripe."

Well, I made a friend! I ended up being introduced to her friends at lunch. It's only been a day but I feel like I can trust these monsters.

I think.
