Second Wind

Katie and Dylan

When the love birds finally emerged from their nest, it was evident that their reunion was known throughout the house. Micheal and Emily both rushed to continue eating as if they had never stopped to cackle about the obvious lovemaking. Dylan and Katie returned to the table, holding hands, the ring catching the light in a beautiful glimmer. Emily gasped, placing a hand over her mouth in surprise, "Oh my, God!"

Micheal nodded in approval. "Hell yeah," he exclaimed, clapping his brother on his shoulder as he sat down. "Must have some crazy make-up sex," he teased Dylan.

Katie cleared her throat, getting everyone's attention. "I've decided to go with Dylan this time, but we're going to come down every other weekend and we can video chat as much as you want, Em. I'll still be working remotely, and I'll definitely need help with planning the wedding."

Tears pricked Emily's eyes as she nodded her head, "Absolutely, dear, anything you need."

Dylan gave Katie and soft smile, admiring the way she always seemed to know exactly what his mother needed. He felt guilty he wasn't there for her, but he was extremely proud of Katie stepping in when he lacked to do so himself. Spending forever with her would be the smartest decision he's ever made.

A Week Later...

Getting twenty boxes into a seventh-floor penthouse must have been some sort of Olympic sport...at least it should've been. By the time they managed to get everything into the foyer they almost collapsed out of exhaustion, but seeing Dylan's home gave her a second wind. Katie made her way into the very open living, kitchen, and dining area, gasping at the scene. It was a far cry from where they had grown up-everything looked so fancy! Dirty as hell, but still fancy. Dylan's clothes littered the floor, takeaway containers on the glass coffee table, and there were still dishes in the sink from a week ago (maybe even longer, who knows); Katie was not looking forward to whatever abomination was in the refrigerator.

"Sorry, it's kinda dirty," Dylan rushed out, scrambling to pick up his clothes.

Katie chuckled, "It's very...'you'. I like it," she paused, "It feels normal. Everything about this place is so different, but at least you're consistent."

Dylan dropped his clothes in a nearby laundry basket and made his way back to where Katie was gawking out the window, wrapping his arms around her and placing a gentle kiss to her neck. "It'll be yours too. I can't wait to see what you do with it." He continued his path along her neck to her shoulder and around to her exposed collarbone.

"Are we still talking about your house?"

He chuckled, "Partially." There was a long stretch of silence between them, but neither one of them minded. Katie was just glad that she was with Dylan, but she was also proud of herself for taking the plunge to be with him. "Something's on your mind."

"Just you," she muttered, turning to wrap her arms around his shoulders, threading her fingers through his hair. "I'm glad I came...I'm glad we're together again."

Dylan inched closer, their lips inches away. "Me too."

Katie rolled her eyes impatiently, tugging on a strand of his hair. "Just kiss me already, would you?!"

He obliged her, sweeping her mouth into a passionate kiss, tongues dancing as his hands caressed her hips. He slipped them under her cropped t-shirt, brushing his fingers across her smooth skin, leaving goosebumps along their trail. Katie tugged on his hair, sending shivers through his body; she knew him too well. They made quick work of their clothes until there was nothing between them. Dylan pressed her against the glass of the window almost chuckling at the thought of seeing the smudges that would be there in the morning. He picked her up by the backs of her thighs, using the window to brace her as he slipped inside. Katie sighed in relief and rested her head against the glass, reveling in the new position. Dylan's mouth attacked her neck as he pumped into her heat, the steady pace building to new heights as they panted each other's names.

This was only one of the things he would dream about when he was alone in bed, in an empty condo basically void of life. Things were different now-she was here, breathing life into him once again, giving him the second wind he had desperately needed all this time. Fuck, he loved this woman. There was nothing in the world that compared to the feeling of being inside her, the way she took him and demanded more.

He felt the familiar tightening of her inner walls and knew it was time; he kept his pace, whispering sweet nothings as she crashed around him, spurring his own release. Dylan gently brought her feet back to the floor and kissed her cheek.

"Well," she breathed, tracing her nails across his heaving chest, "I think I could go for a shower; how about it?"

Dylan smiled and nodded, leading her to the master bathroom-the grand tour could wait.
