Nimue matches Morrigan's brisk pace through the orchards and fields, a knot tightening in her stomach at her sister's strange behaviour. Nox follows, leaving Sven, Kaiden's fox, rolling around in the dirt mid-play fight. Not that the fox had any chance of victory.

She jogs, catching up with Nimue and Morrigan, nuzzling her silver fur into Nimue's hand in comfort.

Nimue is too distracted even to stroke the wolf's fur. Not with all the questions rolling in her mind. But she breathes in the fresh air off the coast to calm her nerves but to no avail.

She looks at Morrigan trying to figure her out.

What brought her so quickly from Rolanth? And why is she behaving so strangely? Nimue hates it. For the sun is shining, the sky is blue and Wolf Spring blooms with the freshness and greenery of late spring going into summer. It is too fine a day to be ruined by bad news.

"So are you going to tell me why you're here or keep twiddling your thumbs?" Nimue says, it comes out more sharply than she intended.

Morrigan sighs, stopping suddenly before turning towards Nimue, a look dancing in her green eyes that she has never seen before. It is an unnerving look.

Suddenly the sun beating over their head is no longer warm but sorching and the tendrils of grass beneath their feet seem one second away from suffocating them both into the earth.

"You know I'm not one to mince my words but I do not know where to even begin," Morrigan starts and Nimue just stares, her face creasing into concern.

"From the beginning sister," Nimue says softly, holding Mor's arm in comfort and Nox nudges the warriors waist, her fur tickling her foster sister's pale arm.

It must be bad news indeed to trouble Morrigan so.

"Nobody knows this but at Beltane something happened during Queen Nalani's fire display, she saw something," Morrigan begins tentatively.

"Saw what?" Nimue cuts in.

But Morrigan silences her with a glare, reminding Nimue of when they were both children and she received many such looks.

"she saw a vision of dead queens, they foretold a prophecy, of the island, of darkness in the future and a secret fourtborth in the cycle ..."

It is so absurd Nimue almost laughs. So impossible and silly that she is certain that Morrigan must be making a jest.

How on earth could a Blue Queen have gone unnoticed for all these years? Well she couldn't have. Who would know of such an existence?

Only the midwife. Their aunt. Hecate. Only the last queen, a war gifted triplet fostered by the Murtras. Perhaps even the Head of the Black Council. Sister of the queen and midwife both ...
