Holland's new look ^^^ Just imagine her going from a pimply teenager to this! You can understand the shock for her.

Darkness surrounded me. I felt started to feel solid again, quite a different feeling from the hollow and empty one that had surrounded me during the talk with Silas. My vision cleared exponentially and they finally adjusted enough for me to survey my surroundings. I was laying down in what seemed to be a box-like object. White lace material covered every surface around me and a small pillow was wedged behind my neck and I wore white slip dress that I had never seen before. Where was I?

Then it hit me. Like a mega-tonne of bricks.

I was in a coffin. My own, personal burial place. The horror and fright in my chest exploded that point.  My breathing rate rose and I started to hyperventilate. I need to get out! Calm down Holland! Calm down! It wont do you any good freaking out! Calm down and we'll find a way out of this!

After giving myself the mental pep talk to relax, I was able to take huge calming breaths and think straight once more. Ok, back to the biggest problem at hand, finding my way out of here. I put my palms against the lid of the casket and applied little force, testing how much force I would need to exert and if there was much resistance on the other side of the lid. To my surprise, it began to lift fairly easily, and it dawned upon me where I must be. The Gilbert family crypt. All Gilberts were layed here to rest and coffins were placed and separate shelves, making it possible to lift my lid fairly easily.

Peeking my head out of the ornate box I had been placed in, I ran my eyes around the eerie place. Boy was it scary. The stone pillars that dotted about the underground room were all that held the roof in place. I just thanked my lucky stars that bodies were not just lain down without a coffin. In my present state of mind, I don't think I would be able to keep my head if I saw any skeletons at the moment.

Looking down, I noticed that my casket was placed on a low shelf, less than one meter form the floor which was fortunate since I wouldn't have to jump very far. As my toes hit the hard-packed soil, I turned and saw two more caskets ahead of me, but these ones had a picture frame each attached. Mum and Dad. The shock of their death still hadn't hit me yet, the sudden realisation that I will never see them again still bubbled beneath the surface.

I noticed the door at the other side of the room, which lay up a few stairs. Well, not so much the door, but the huge padlock I could see barring the entry from the outside. Damn it! How was I supposed to get out of here?

Scurrying up to the heavy wooden door, I gave it a test push, but it didn't even come close to budging.

"Come on! Stupid door!" I tugged on the handle again but it remained firmly shut in place. I looked longingly at the bolt, willing it with all my might that it would open.  Frustrated, I closed my eyes and inhaled a long breath, trying to calm my frustration.

Tink!

My eyes flew open, and I looked wildly about, trying to find the source of the small metallic thump I had just heard. When I found the object which and caused it, I stared in fascination. There, on the grass outside the door, lay the heavy padlock, its catch having been released. What? How? Was this the thing that Silas had talked about? The little extra abilities that I would receive?

Well I wasn't just going to sit there and stare all night. Scrambling up from my crumpled position behind the door, I pushed the rusty latch open and dashed out onto the well-kept grass of the cemetery. Turning back towards the crypt, I picked up the lock and closed the gate, securing the gate closed again, the lock was back in place so no one would even realise that it had been opened recently.

After that was all done, I stood back up and inhaled the scent of fresh air. Pine trees and the damp smell of freshly-dug earth filled my nostrils. Even though it was a place for the dead, the aroma wasn't unlikeable.

Walking amongst the graves under the iridescent light of the half-formed moon did wonders on me frazzled nerves, I had no idea where I was going, but I knew it had to be a toilet, since I had to pee REALLY badly. Exiting the front wrought-iron gate of the cemetery, I made my way to the small kids playground in Addison park, knowing that the public bathrooms never got locked at night.

Ahhhh... there is greater feeling than relieving a full-to-bursting bladder after holding it for god-knows how long. Not forgetting my personal hygiene- I may be some freakish supernatural being, but walking around with unsanitary hands, ugh! Looking up at the old mirror in front of my face, I nearly screamed in fright. I looked behind me, expecting to see the person belonging to the beautiful face that I had seen in the mirror, but no one was there. I looked back, squinting. The face did the same. I raised my eyebrow, so did the perfect girl in the mirror. No way! Was this another one of Silas' improvements? Cause if it was, I freaking love him!

It was me! I looked honest-to-god brilliant. I know that sounds vain, but coming from a person who had been bullied for looking like a monkey all her life, it was the biggest shock ever. I needed to stop ogling at myself. I have important matters to attend to.

Now, lets go and see what my goody-two-shoes of a sister has been doing.
