It's a silly feeling I fall victim to every time Phil comes over. Maybe it's vulnerability, or maybe it's hatred but it tastes like my own tongue rotted inside my mouth.

I swivelled atop of one of the stools beside the island bar eyeing the dark brunette from the corner of my vision. Kyle and him conversed in the den, and I can admittedly say I was eavesdropping for the time being.

My throat had been sore for a couple days now ever since I snuck into Little Honolulu with Milo, Mari, and the pile of trash. That place may seem high end but it was seeping with germs. I'm sure I got the virus from there.

I sipped on some orange juice, rolling my eyes at the laughter that wafted from the room over. I mocked them under my breath with the manliest voices I could but was interrupted by my phone vibrating. I didn't even look at before answering.

"Hello?"

"Hi, this is Haley correct?" A female voice reverberated back at me.

I answered cautiously, "Yes, and who is this?"

"This is your boss Kathy." She sternly replied, not seeming too happy.

"Oh, hi! How are you?" I chirped back hoping I didn't sound as concerned as I actually was. She completely ignored me and went on.

"Are you scheduled to work today?" She asked.

"No, why?" I swallowed hard and jumped from my seat. I stuttered to find my footing.

"I need you here, in my office. There's a couple things we need to assess."

"Yes, I-I'll be there right away." I was shaking as I hung up. I tripped over my own feet as I ran into the den to the front toward. "I have to go!" I yelled slipping on my shoes, denying gravity's attempts to make me topple over.

"Have fun on your date." Kyle called over at me.

"Thanks." I murmured not wanting to admit I was not going on anything close to date. I opened the door and before I could smack it shut and dash, I heard Phil ask a question rather loudly.

"What date?" His voice wavered with a hint of anger and confusion. Thinking it was aimed at Kyle I turned slightly to look behind my shoulder. But as I caught a glimpse, the scene was not what I thought it out to be.

Phil was stood up, making eye contact with me, actually acknowledging my existence. He took a step forward continuing to talk, "You're dating someone already?"

Kyle interrupted to include, "She's lived here for like 3 months. Calm down. She can date whenever she thinks she's ready." I glanced at Phil then back at Kyle. It was sad to know Kyle was not even close to being on the same page as us. Phil was talking about the time span of us being apart, all the while Kyle was talking about how long I've been in London.

I went along with this whole date thing and said, "I'll be honest and say yes." I leered over at Phil hoping to see irritation on his face. "Do you have anything you'd like to be honest about? Possibly cheating on something, or even someone?" I watched him turn sheepishly white, and I knew I had succeeded in giving away that I knew what he done.

"Who told you." He demanded, ignoring Kyle who now stood behind him in a flustered confusion.

"What is going on?" Kyle raised his voice, turning red in the cheeks like he does when he's upset. Brandon peeked his head out from the hallway connected to the living room. If I wasn't so out of proportion emotion wise I would've laughed. His eyes widened and he retreated back to his room.

"I'll see you around, Phil." I gave him a disgusted look taking a step out the door. But before racing to Little Honolulu I needed to conclude one more thing. I turned around again but to confront Kyle. I sucked in a breath before I spoke. "Kyle. I lied- we lied to you for a long time. You see, me and Phil dated very briefly, it was nothing but a small cutesy thing. Please forgive me, but I've got to go like right now." Kyle instantly glared at Phil in awe and betrayal. I slammed the door behind me and was out. I needed to leave whatever disaster would follow.

I knocked on Kathy's office door then hung my hands at my side. I curled my fingers around the hem of my shirt and bit my lip. I was so fucked.

The poofy-haired redhead I call my boss swung it open immediately. Her lips were not covered in her usual scarlet lipstick, instead there was a light pink gloss that had smudged a bit onto the corner of her mouth. "How nice of you to join us!" She gripped my shoulder and roughly ushered me into her office. "Mr. Samson is here as well." She gestured at Elliot who sat in front of her desk with his head hung in shame.

"Awesome." I muttered under my breath taking a seat beside him.

"Let's cut to the chase here. I have security footage of both of you outside, in the front parking lot of Little Honolulu, clearly coming from inside the facility. I'll have to press charges-" I nervously ran my hand along my thighs, trying to calm myself. I gazed over at Elliot in fear and he returned it. Thankfully Kathy proceeded. "unless you two would kindly make this easy. By that I mean, if you tell me why and what you were doing here so late, I will not fire you but let you 'quit' on short notice."

I held my breath thinking of how to explain that night. Elliot took the burden before I could.

"We snuck in after hours to go in the hot tub. We were intoxicated and it was an incredible mistake on both of our parts. We are terribly sorry for this inconvenience and neither of us will be seen on the premises ever again." Well said. I nodded quickly ignoring how my knees still wobbled below me.

Kathy did not say a word and watched Elliot before turning to watch me. I suppose she was trying to sniff out whether or not we were telling the truth. She pointed her nose to the ceiling.

"Consider yourself lucky."

"Yes, thank you so so much, I'm so sorry." I apologized, standing from my seat.

"Just get out of my office." She turned to Elliot, "You too Samson."

I did not waste my time on getting out of that place. I skipped talking to Elliot and booked it to my car. I wasn't ready to talk to him just yet and I also parked in a no parking zone.
