I dropped the last strand of hair from my curling iron and took a final sweep over my reflection. My hair was falling in loose spirals across my shoulders and back. Best curling job I've done in a while. A gave an accomplished nod before slipping out of my bedroom door. I snatched my phone from my pocket and texted Milo to come get me.
I ran through the house to the front door like a child high on sugar. I was too excited right now. I pulled some red converse over my feet and then scurried off to find Kyle. I supposed he was in his room. I wanted to tell him about my whereabouts before I took off. My shoes were loud against the hardwood floor.
I got to his door stopping and knocked lightly. "I'm coming in!" I yelled but no answer. I peeked in to see the lights off and no Kyle. I made a stubborn face before making my way to the bathroom down the hall. As I got closer I could hear the shower running. This time I knocked loud and clear so he'd know do sure I was barging in.
I pushed open the door and the steam temporarily blinded me. I ignored the heat that devoured me. "Hey, hey, hey!" I cheered.
"Waddup gurl?" He replied just as enthusiastically. A smile bombarded my lips, I didn't expect him to respond so fast.
"I would like to inform you that I, Haley Fuller, am going to a party tonight." I said gesturing to myself even though he couldn't see.
"I am too! Maybe it'll be the same party!" He laughed. I got quiet. That bitch better be kidding. He noticed my disapproving silence and spoke up. "I'm kidding Hal, I'm just going to Phil's." That's better but I still perked up at the sound of my boyfriend's name. What if Dan slips out something about us? Dan has a way of letting idiotic things slip. It's happened more than once. If Kyle found out he will drag me home from the party by my ear.
That would be the biggest shit storm of my life. Imagine your 19 year old little sister dating your 27 year old best friend. Either me or Phil would be dead. Probably even both of us. I shuttered thinking of a screaming Kyle. "Okay then. How do you plan on getting there?" I questioned. He sure as hell wasn't using my car. That thing is my baby. I got it imported from the states and everything.
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" He stated more than questioned.
"My friends are picking me up."
"When you coming home?"
"Late."
"No, shit." He sarcastically responded.
"I don't know. It depends on how much fun I'm having." I admitted to him. I could tell him anything. I was like this with all of my brothers. We all just knew we could trust one another.
He got more serious though. "Just be careful okay? I know the drinking age is different here and everything, but don't do anything you'll regret." Oh so he thinks I'll go on a stampede and fuck everything with a dick. That's what that sentence always means. I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. And you don't do anything you'll regret at Phil's, okay? Don't you be getting pregnant." I lectured making fun of him. He let out a low chuckle probably not finding it too humorous that I'm mocking his demands.
"Right... When are you going?" He didn't think my joke was funny at all. I thought it was pretty humorous myself.
"Maybe like- 15 to 20 minutes." I blankly responded after glancing at the time.
"Good, Phil will probably be here soon and I can't exactly answer it." He could answer it I guess maybe if he got out of the goddamn shower faster.
"Why is Phil coming here?" I said too curiously than I wanted.
"I don't know how to get to his and Dan's flat." He slowly replied. I could hear the confusion in his voice even over the rushing water of the shower.
"You're a wuss. You probably just don't want to walk alone." I responded changing the subject.
"Go away." He laughed at me. I knew he didn't mean it literally but I still left anyway. I didn't have anything left to tell him. I clicked the door shut behind me and started to the kitchen. I usually liked waiting there when I had time to spare. It liked tracing patterns onto the marble counters and spinning in the stools. It was enjoyable for someone like me. Easily entertained is one way to describe it.
I plopped down onto a stool and took out my phone. Milo had texted me saying they were on their way. I really didn't know what to expect tonight. I wonder if I'd get plastered as all hell. I smiled thinking about the sensation. From what Dan tells me I'm the happiest drunk on the planet. I gave out nearly 30 hugs the last party he dragged me to.
I shuttered at the thought of it. Not at the hugging part. I'm literally the biggest bugger at heart but when I'm sober I have limitations. Can you imagine giving tons of drunks hugs? The germs. The alcohol breath, sweaty, wandering hands. Nothing I'm really too interested in. My thoughts stopped as I heard a knock on the door.
I got up and walked to the door. I simply swung it open and returned to my chair. "What, no greeting?" He questioned walking up beside me. I gave him a stern look. He knew Kyle was here just in the other hall. You can hear anything in this house. "Please?" He added. He shot me a smile that was begging me for any sort of physical contact. It reminded me of what Dan was telling me yesterday. I make him a like a little hormonal teenager. I tried my hardest to not let a grin curl onto my mouth.
I bit my lip looking at the hallway and then back up at him. This is risky. Brandon or Kyle could walk out at any second. I let out a sigh and beckoned him over with my index finger. He obliged and bent over to my level. I grabbed his chin gently and moved his lips to mine. He had stubble that was like sandpaper on my fingertips. He rarely left his face unshaven. I slowly started running my fingertips across the stubble. I could feel a smile appear onto his lips as I did. The kiss lasted longer than I intended so I pulled away as soon as my brain recollected. I always became scatterbrained when I kissed him.
"Happy?" I chuckled looking down at my legs which I had swinging energetically off the stool. He gave me a smile and then walked into the lounge. Why did everyone walk away while talking to me? I got up listening to the part of me that screamed for me to follow him.
"You look nice tonight." He said taking a glance at my outfit. I smiled from the compliment and wiped off nonexistent dust from my clothes.
"Yeah, well, I have to look good for a party." I said obviously. I was wearing a black and white striped flannel that was tied in the front and ended midway across my stomach. Underneath was a plain black camisole, and for pants I had a pair of florescent red skinny jeans.
"You going with Taylor?" He questioned seeming pretty confident in his estimate. I met his eyes and opened my mouth to speak but didn't exactly know how to respond. I blinked rapidly trying to gain my conscious. I closed my mouth pressing my lips together. If I told him what would he do? How does a girlfriend explain that she's going to a party with two guys. Two more than averagely attractive guys, who are lifeguards.
I didn't notice I was holding my breath until my phone started ringing. "It's with a few people I met from work." I answered adding "they uh- they wanted to make more friends." I let out an odd laugh. After that I pulled out my phone and put it to my ear. "Hey!" I cheered glancing at anywhere but Phil.
"We're outside right now! Get your ass down here Cinderella!" Milo laughed loudly into the phone sounding very happy.
I could hear Elliot make a comment in the background with a chuckle. "You mean Repunzel, you dunce?"
"Yeah, whatever the hell it is." Milo murmured sassily. "Anyway we're waiting for you." He continued now talking to me.
"Alright I'm coming now!" I lied hanging up. I looked back to Phil seeing he didn't seemed bothered by my response. So this means he believed me. I mean my answer was the actual truth just without minor details.
"I'm going to get going." I stated giving a weak smile. I felt kind of bad going to hangout with other guys. They're just friends though, and nothing more. So no harm no foul. I could hear Kyle exit the bathroom then reenter his bedroom.
"Call me if you need anything, okay?" He stated wrapping his arms around me. Everyone thinks I'm going to do something wrong. It kind of pissed me off. First Kyle, now Phil? Who's next, Brandon?
"I will." I answered and kissed his lips. I quickly pulled away making my way to the front door.

I took another shot letting it flow into my system. I closed my eyes feeling it slide down to my stomach with a burning sensation. The taste was strong but enjoyable to my tastebuds by now. The vibrations from the music coursed through me and the group of dancing people looked so much more enticing after a few shots.
I knew for sure Milo was in there. You can hear his big laugh boom every few seconds. I glanced over my shoulder to see if Elliot was still in here. He was but I no longer felt the need to hang around him. He told me to stick with him since I didn't know my way around. The alcohol was kicking in and I was ready to run. A smile curled at my lips before I dashed into the parade of people.
I ended up in the middle of a giant fury of dancing drunks. The bass was even more extreme in the center of the room. The deep vibrations willowed through my body. My ribcage felt as though it was rattling and it made me want to dance even more. I quickly joined along and they let me without any interruptions.
I didn't care if I bumped into people. I didn't care if a pair of hips ground up against mine. Intoxication, sexual tension, and the stray hands are the only things that filled the air and I loved it. I closed my eyes and just let the music and vodka take me wherever. I felt a hand grip onto my hip and someone press themselves to me. I let out a squeal of delight and didn't even look to see who it was. I just kept dancing, it's not like I'd know them anyway.
I ran my hands through my hair before throwing my head back letting out an exhilarated yell. I ended it with a laugh as I realized my voice didn't even break the barrier of other noises. The person's hands began running up my sides and I felt a shock run through me. Not a good shock more like a what the fuck shock.
The rules to grinding with a stranger is strictly no hand wandering. Just hips obviously. I was about to move away but before I could I felt a hand clasp around my wrist. I whipped my head to see Milo in front of me dragging me out of here. I glanced back to see who I was dancing with. It was boy, he was blurred in my vision but what I could see he was very muscular. Most likely attractive like any other guy at a party.
I blinked out the fuzz from my eyes as we broke into the kitchen. "Take a shot with me." He stated brushing the sweaty hair from his face. I smiled grabbing a glass.
"To round whateverthefuckingnumberwereat!" I cheered tapping my glass to his. He cheered along with me before swallowing his drink swiftly. This drink was flavored oddly, almost like cherries. Cherries that were on fire.
"Thank youu so much." Milo slurred gratefully and poked my shoulder.
"For what?" I tilted my head scrunching my nose.
"Applying at that shit hole, Little Honolulu. Cause you're the best!"
"Awe, Milo! No you're the best!" I gushed at him meaning every drunken word.
"You are a, uh- princess. And- princesses should dance." He stammered out trying to pull me back to the other room. I resisted tugging him back.
"No, no, no. I- I am going to go find Elliot. That ass needs to dance with us!" I yelled out determined. Milo nodded his head and slipped back into the other room.
