Chapter 41 - Kaimen Yaiba Beach Trip

Conan POV

"Whoa! There's a Kamen Yaiba beach event going on!" Mitsuhiko exclaimed, eyes glued to his phone as class ended.

"Really?!" Ayumi's eyes sparkled. "I wanna go!"

"Me too!" Genta chimed in, grinning. "It's in Shizuoka, right? We can make it, can't we?" He turned hopefully to me and Haibara.

"We could ask Professor Agasa to drive us," I suggested. "Kogoro and Ran are busy that day anyway."

Haibara shook her head. "No good. The professor threw out his back."

"Aww, but there's only one day left!" Mitsuhiko sighed.

"I really wanted to try the Kamen Yaiba sausage roll..." Ayumi pouted.

"How about I take you?" a familiar voice cut in.

We turned to see Rumi in the doorway. "If you bring your floaties and I rent a car, I can drive you all. I even asked Kobayashi-sensei to come, but she's busy with Inspector Shiratori."

"Yes!!" Mitsuhiko and Genta fist-bumped.

"Thank you, Wakasa-sensei!" Ayumi beamed.

"You're coming too, Haibara-san?" Rumi asked casually.

"Of course," Haibara replied with a rare smile.

The classroom door slid open. "Looks like everyone's in a good mood," Kaiya said, stepping in. "Professor Agasa asked me to pick you guys up today."

"Kaiya-neechan!" the kids rushed over. "Come to the beach with us tomorrow!"

Rumi POV

Perfect. I can investigate more into Haibara and Kaiya if they tag along.

Shuichi POV

"Eh? You're going to the beach as well?" Kaiya asked me in surprise as she packed sunscreen and beach mats.

"Well of course, I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to enjoy the beach." I replied. "Besides, it's better to be safe than sorry..." I said with a serious expression.

"If it's about Wakasa-sensei, I'm sure she wouldn't do anything to Haibara at the beach." Kaiya insisted. "I'll keep an eye on her."

"You're not going to wear a long sleeve to the beach are you?" Kaiya eyed my attire carefully. "That would look quite out of place."

"I have to find a way to keep the voice changer device hidden." I pointed out.

"Hmm I have an idea!" she thought for a minute before rummaging through a storage box.

Kaiya POV

"Ta da! I found this sleeveless turtleneck " I said proudly. "You can hide a voice changing device inside and keep cool."

"Would it not be odd to wear this turtleneck?" Shuichi replied as he inspected the outfit.

"Do you have a better idea though?" I teased.

"Ow Genta don't inflate the floating device in the car!" I scolded as the fin of a large plastic dolphin hit me. "I'll help you inflate it later at the beach."

"Sorry Kaiya-neechan." Genta said, hastily deflating the floating device.

"I feel bad that you have to rent the car and drive us too." Rumi said to Subaru.
