Kaiya POV
I stood up curiously as I heard a familiar, soft bark. Scanning the warehouse, I saw a narrow window high on the wall. I pushed a rusted chair across the dusty floor and stacked it on top of a crate in the corner. Testing the wobble carefully, I climbed up and saw Haru padding outside silently. The window was sealed tight, but old. I leaned my weight into it and eventually the seal cracked with a soft pop. I was able to push the window just enough to stick my hand out.
I reached up, ruffling his ears "Haru! Did you follow me all the way here?"
Haru whined softly.
I took off my hair clip, holding it tightly between my fingers, and pressed it into Haru's soft fur. "Take this," I murmured. "Go to them. Let them know I'm okay... and trust me."
Haru sniffed my hand, then, understanding, nudged the clip gently with his nose. I slid the clip into a place he could carry safely in his mouth without dropping it.
"Be careful, okay?" I whispered, giving him a pat. "I'll be fine. Just... get this to them."
The dog lingered a moment, tail flicking, then trotted silently into the shadows outside, disappearing from sight.

Conan POV
I was halfway down the street after school, half-listening to Genta argue with Mitsuhiko about snacks, when something white shot across my path "Whoa-!"
I stopped short as a familiar dog skidded to a halt in front of us, paws scraping against the pavement. His ears were perked, tail wagging restlessly.
Ayumi leaned forward "Oh you're such a cute dog!"
Haru huffed and trotted closer to me, clearly relieved to see someone he recognized.
"...Haru?" I crouched instinctively "What are you doing all the way out here?" That's when I noticed what he was holding.
Clenched carefully between his teeth was a small pink object shaped like a cherry blossom. It was plastic and worn smooth with use.
"...That's-" I reached out slowly. Haru tilted his head and let me take it.
It was Kaiya's hair clip. The one wore it almost every day. I remembered her saying it was her lucky charm Yukiko-san had bought it for her. She only ever took it off at home. My fingers tightened around it.
"Haru," I said quietly, lowering my voice "where did you get this?"
The dog's tail slowed. He turned his head, staring back down the street he'd come from, then looked up at me again, whining softly.
Something cold settled in my stomach. Kaiya wouldn't just drop this.
I scanned the area. The street looked normal with students passing by, traffic lights changing, no sign of a struggle. But that didn't mean anything. Not if they were involved.
"...Don't tell me," I muttered under my breath. "You tried to warn her, didn't you?"
Haru barked loudly.
Genta jumped "Huh? What's wrong, Conan?"
I slipped the hair clip into my pocket and stood, forcing my expression back into something calm.
"It's nothing," I said quickly. "But we're going to Professor Agasa's. Right now."
Mitsuhiko blinked "Eh? Why?"
Ayumi looked worried "Is Kaiya-neechan okay?"
I glanced down at Haru. He stood close to my leg now, no longer wagging his tail.
