We didn't' get back until late. It was past midnight, and my mom was still giving me rules, tips, and history. My mind is exploding all over the places. If I am not doing this wrong then I am doing that. I love my mom, but seriously chill, still getting the hang of it over here. Luckily my mother said it shouldn't take me long to get the hang of it. I mentally sighed as we strolled in the pack house. No body was really here, so we weren't tiptoe quiet. I hunched over and grabbed all my bags, with my back still hunched I began to run up the stairs. All of the bags and new suitcases really wear you down. "Skylar Ann Hues, straighten your back and don't run up the stairs." Groaning I straightened my back. With her back turned she said over her shoulder, "A lady never groans." I roll my eyes, "Nor do they roll their eyes." I stuck out my tongue and stomped up the stairs. Before being able to confine into my room she yelled, "We do not stomp up the stairs." I snicker to myself. She didn't see me sticking my tongue out, ha, serves her right. I began to get comfortable before I heard footsteps.
My mother's head pops in the room,"We especially never stick our tongue out." She laughs and begins to walk backdown the stairs. "Mom?" My voice sounded vulnerable, but then again I really didn't feel comfortable. She comes back in smiling, "Of course, I can't believe I almost forgot." From there she sat on the end of my bed, she tucked me in while singing the lullaby. I may be to old for this, but hearing my moms voice calms me down.
She kisses my cheek and I begin to fall to sleep. Only after did I realize that I would get no sleep tonight. The whole night I was tossing and turning. If I became even semi-comfortable my brain would travel to the thoughts about Scott and the fight. Tossing and turning lasted until 3:30 in the morning, only then did I get out of bed. I had given up on trying to rest. Instead I went downstairs and read. The books were about the recent King and Queens, my ancestors. I learned a lot about how I was to act and the history from these.
My reading was interrupted by a knock on the door. "Hey, what are you doing in here?" Taylor walked into the room. My eyes traveled over to the clock. It was six in the morning. "Uh, I am reading. What are you doing up so early." Taylor walks and takes a seat in the classic leather chair to the left on the couch I was on.
"I always get up this early." That makes one of us. "How did you sleep last night?" Sighing I laid the book down and rubbed my eyes.
"Didn't get a wink of sleep in; kept tossing and turning all night." She nods her head. "It was the same for me the first time."
"The first time?"
She gets comfortable. "The first act when your brother was Alpha was to search for you. We did so. Your adoptive mom always stopped your dad from looking for you, but she couldn't stop Shawn. Anyways he went looking for you when Xavier's men ambushed us. Shawn sent the woman and children underground. It became so bad we fled to the tunnels and left the area. We headed to the safe house. That night was the hardest ever for me to fall asleep."
My head sat on my knuckles. " I don't understand why Xavier would do all of this. He was nice at some points, and it seemed as if Xavier was two different people. One minute he was carefree, taking me on dates, and loving. Then the next day or days usually after a meeting he would become cold hearted and cruel again."
Taylor rolled her lips. "Well then I don't know. Lets do some research. What pack was he from?""Yours."
"Really? Seems like a lot of people from my pack moved here. Your adoptive mom came a few days before you arrived. Years later Xavier comes along with his huge gang-" I cut Taylor off. Of course only then would this strike in my head.
