Isabelle Lightwood would have described herself as pretty 'down' (as Simon would have said) with mundane culture. She was the only one out of her family on Facebook, she used the Internet, and she was always ahead of the fashion trends.
But she had no idea why her boyfriend was standing on her doorstep dressed as a rabbit when they were supposed to be going to a smart restaurant in town.
"Surprise!" Simon said nochelantly, as if he wasn't ruining her ideal date in front of her eyes.
"What do you think you're doing dressed like that?" Izzy asked calmly, her left hand toying with the whip coiled around her arm.Simon blinked owlishly at her from behind his glasses. "Uh, I'm the Easter Bunny?" He looked hopeful, like he expected her to know what he was playing at.
"And why the hell do you think it's appropriate to dress up when we're going out?" She bit out.
Simon looked so confused. Honestly, he was the mundane here.
"Because it's Easter tomorrow?"Izzy pinched the bridge of her nose. "Simon, you're Jewish. You don't celebrate Easter."
"But Taki's are having a fancy dress night." He said forlornly.
Izzy pursed her lips. "We're not going to Taki's, we're going to a nice Italian place in the city. Taki's is, well, tacky."Simon looked horrified. "I'm so sorry! I didn't realise- do I have to wear a suit?"
"Well you would have had to, but," Izzy glanced at her watch, "We missed our booking."
"I'm so sorry, I'll make it up to you I promise." He apologised.Izzy just sighed. "It's fine. Just... go." She shut the door on him, not wanting to see him walking away in the stupid rabbit costume (okay, it was a tiny bit cute).
As she walked away from the door, she heard Jace's voice screeching "What the heck is that?" from outside.
She hurried out of the foyer before anyone could see her cry.
Except the second that she turned the corner, she bumped into Alec."Did you really just send Simon away for getting confused and dressing up like a rabbit?" He frowned. Izzy shrugged. "Raziel, go after him before he does something stupid like assuming you're not together." He gave her a little push back towards the hall. "Go."
Izzy looked up at her brother in confusion, before realising what was going on. "Say it, Alec. Say it."
"Izzy, I'm not going to say it."
Izzy smiled wickedly. "Come on, Alec."
He sighed. "Fine- you guys are my OTP. Now, go."As Izzy ran out, past Jace and Clary, she laughed. Out on the street, she could still see Simon, trudging away. Izzy kept running, despite her five-inch heels and posh dress, until she barrelled into him, forcing him to turn.
"Iz-?" Was all he managed to get out before Izzy was kissing him.
"I'm sorry," she blurted after she pulled away, "I wasn't very kind to you. So, sorry."
Simon blinked. "Did you run all the way here in heels?"
"I just apologised and all you have to say is about my shoes?" Horrified, Izzy replied. She sniffed.
Simon shook his head. "No, no, I understand what you're saying and I think it's really sweet, I'm just glad that you're my girlfriend and not my enemy."Izzy laughed giddily. "By the Angel, Simon, you're a massive dork." She kissed him again. "Now come on, I need to give you your Easter egg."
Simon smiled as she tugged on his hand. "Is that a-"
"That is not a euphemism Simon."-
Aaaand then they went inside and ate chocolate forever the end.
Happy Easter guys :)
