Auden's p.o.v.
"Hi honey how are you feeling" the pretty nurse with red hair asked me with a smile.
"I'm okay" i shrugged
"Still having trouble with breathing?" she titled her head and made concerned eye contact with me
i nodded " but not as bad today"
she nodded and gave me a small Dixie cup with 2 blue pill capsules in it
"ill be back to check on you in a few okay sweetie?" she reassured me.
not that i would know anyway, id be out in 20 minutes and she could surpass her duty to check on me no problem.
but i had liked her, i had a feeling she came to check on me anyway, yeah i liked this one because she always came back, that was something not many people did these days.

"Hey" i heard on the other line as i answered my phone
"Well hi there" i said in a monotonous voice
"Sam is having a party again" my best friend Stella exclaimed through the phone.
"Cool" the though of another party wasn't quite boring but not yet exciting, it was the normal. Like if my mom had told me we were having chicken for dinner.
"You okay?" she asked
"yeah i'm fine" i answered
it wasn't quite a lie, because i had faced much worse, i was perfectly fine besides the excessive use of substances and the fact the feeling of a hangover was relieving to me now
"Can i ride with you?" i asked
"Yeah im actually calling to tell you im almost there" she laughed on the other line
i laughed too and hung up the phone
"Hey mom, im going to hang out with Stella tonight is that cool'' i popped my head around the corner and into my parents bedroom
"yeah text me if you need a ride home" she said her eye not leaving the screen of the tv
"will do, love you mom" i yelled as i walked out the door
i waited wit the door open to hear her response but all i got was muffled gun shots from the video game my step dad was playing.
Stella was one of those girls who didn't get much attention earlier on from guys, but boy did she make u for it now. She was tall and thin, with dark hair and blue eyes, the complete opposite of me. and better in every way, i think that's why we always got along so well, we definitely had our differences. but we were alike in a lot of ways too.
"sup" she said in a fake deep voice. 'i shook my head and laughed climbing into her car.
she laughed and shifted into drive
"So hows it going" she asked reaching for her aviators sitting on the center console
"eh, how about you?"
"She asked me" she bit her lip, containing her excitement
like i said she didn't get a lot of attention from guys when we were younger, and he was making up for it? She had been with the hottest girl around for about a month
" She asked you out?" i yelled, my already projecting voice filling the small car.
"its official my man" she held her hand up for a high-five
I did, then turned and looked out the window
"Why the fuck are we not celebrating" she threw her hands around as she spoke
i shrugged my shoulders
"Auden! whats wrong?" she nudged me and turned left
"you forgot a blinker" i pointed out
"tell me" she laughed
I thought of how good hings always happened to good people, was i that bad?
"Nothing Stell- im happy i promise, now lets go get drunk as fuck" i shouted
"Woo designated driver over here" she laughed and pumped her fist in the air

"You're really good at beer pong" a tall boy with hazel eyes whispered in my ear
i laughed and looked up at him "Im Auden"
"Im Chris" he smiled. I don't know if it was the weed, but he looked great.
"well Auden you need to hang out with me now" he continued
"and whys that?" i asked
"because you seem really fun, and im not just saying that because you reek of weed right now" he laughed and grabbed my hand, leading me through the crowd of people.
"Aye Auden!" Sam, my friend since grade school, and the host of the party approached me.
"Hey" i smiled
"you met Chris?" he asked
" Looks like it"
"You guys should come by the fire with us" he smiled and motioned for us to follow him.
after an hour of truth or dare which consisted of everyone but me getting dared to do anything at all, i wasn't feeling the fire anymore and apparently neither was Chris, who had moved very close to me.
"Wanna get out of here?" he whispered
i nodded and we stood up, waving goodbye to everyone
"So where are you from?"I asked him, id never seen him before
"Im from Delaware, Sams is my cousin, he explained
i nodded" that's fun"
he smiled and looked down
"you're still pretty fucked up aren't you?" he laughed
i nodded
" yeah i am" i said, i was actually pretty paranoid to be honest, those four bowls by the campfire were getting to me
"you okay?" he asked
i guess i was tense and vulnerable, but when he laced is fingers into mine i started to feel okay, then his arms wrapped around me reminded me it wasn't that bad anymore
It was nice to have someone hold me, only one person really had before.
And liked how he didn't try anything. he left his mark even if all he left me with was a goodnight kiss.
some people subtlety become a part of your life, and some subtlety leave,
But the bad part of it all was i kept seeing your face when i was with him. And i think thats because you chose to leave with a bang. There was just nothing subtle about you.
