It's so obvious sometimes, that most things are left unsaid. And it was as clear as could be when i woke up to an empty bed that morning. It had happened countless times, that i was used to it by now. I've always found that funny, how emotions can be felt so many times that you just become immune to feeling them. Too often they were replaced with the unexplained cruelty of not feeling anything at all.
I rolled over onto my back and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling until i heard the light footsteps in some other part of the house. i got up and peeked out into the hallway, deciding to just find another ride home, Stella probably didn't want to be bothered anyway.
"Hey, Auden right?" a girl with long blonde hair who looked familiar asked me.
"yeah" i smiled weakly, trying to keep my voice down.
"I'm Hailey, we go to school together" she explained nervously.
"Gotcha" i made m way closer to the front door, pulling my shoes on.
"Yeah so any-"
"I'd love to talk but i need to start walking home or something, do you know anybody i could catch a ride with?"
"Oh" she looked down as her face fell "Yeah i could give you a ride if you wait here while i grab my keys" she said flatly.
"Will do boss" i nodded standing place, feeling slightly guilty for the way i chose to say that.
i waited in the doorway a she searched the house littered with sleeping, probably hungover teenagers.
I shut the door slowly behind us as we made our way to the small red car.
It was actually insanely clean besides the bunched up gym clothes and stack of books in the backseat.
"So uh where do you live?" she asked me starting the car.
"Take a right at the end of the driveway" i started to navigate.
She did as I said and we sat in silence.
I reached up to turn the radio on,.
I saw her put her hand to her head at the very low volume of 15
"Hungover?" i laughed
She nodded and used her hand as a visor to block the sun from her sensitive eyes.
"You didn't drink last night?" she asked
"Take a look at me really quick"
My hair was falling out of a pony tail and i was wearing a pair of blue sweatpants and Chris's t-shirt. At least he was somewhat decent.
"I'd rather not man" she joked
i playfully hit her arm.
"Shit you missed the turn!" i said, not meaning to be as loud as i was.
"Shhhh" she said pulling onto the side of the road.
"do you have any ibuprofen?" she said looking pale.
"oddly enough yeah i do" i said pulling the small tablets from the plastic bottle
i handed her the medicine and watched as she took it.
She was very skinny, on the verge of scrawny, but still kind of muscular. Her hair fell to the middle of her back.
"Okay so what turn was it?" she said after regaining her composure.
I pointed to the road behind us.
The car fell silent for the rest of the way to my house.
"Well see you around?" she smiled at me.
"sounds good, thankyou" i said and i got out of the car and shut the door.
I turned back around, knocking on the window
"You know you should really eat something, do you want to come in?"
She looked at the time.
"yeah i can come in" she smiled turning her car off.
