Pre-War Tension

Tea's Pov

Honda and I arrived at school only to be stopped and turned around by Joey. Apparently he made Saikoro angry, which I'll get back at him for later, and then she ran off. Then Yugi ran off to find her. 

Honda, like usual, follows Joey and I. We run up and down streets looking for the two shorties. Joey yells Yugi's name hoping we'll find him sooner. 

We're gunna be late for school if this keeps up for too much longer. With that thought, we turn the corner into an ally and see both Yugi and Saikoro passed out on the ground with another random man near by.

I shake Saikoro lightly. "Saikoro." I say and she eyes flutter open. Well that was easy. She looks around startled. 

Yugi wakes up about a second later from Honda doing the same thing I did. Joey was just leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. 

I wonder... Is he trying to act cool?

I hear Yugi gasp when he sees Saikoro. "Sai!" He says and scrambles to help her up. "Are you okay!?" He starts to panic as he makes sure shes okay. "You're not hurt, are you!?"

I look to Joey and he has his eyes fixed on Yugi and Saikoro. Something fishy is going on here. I will get to the bottom of this. 

Clouds start to appear in the sky. Great. Then it starts to rain heavily. Even better. 

Honda puts his jacket over his head and I do the same. I look to Saikoro and realize that she's not even wearing the uniform. Then I I look at Yugi trying to tell him to give Sai his jacket without her knowing I'm doing so. 

Before I can get Yugi's attention Joey plops his jacket over Saikoro's head. I wish I could have taken a picture. 

"I'm sorry," Joey says. Now I wish I could have taken a video. It's not everyday you hear Joey apologize.

I look to Yugi and see a look in his eye I've never seen before. Jealousy. I feel like I'm in a TV show or something. 

Joey sticks his hands in his pockets and walks away with a light blush on his face. Yugi quickly takes Joey's place next to Saikoro but he still looks angry. 

The only thing that I can think about is how bad I feel for Saikoro. She has two boys that are about to start all out war over her and I can feel it in the air. That poor girl. She doesn't know what she's in for.

"We should probably just head back to the game shop." Honda says quietly.

I look at the sky and realize how bad the storm is about to get. The sky up ahead is literally pitch black. "And we should hurry." I add. Joey nods and so do Saikoro and Yugi. 

Joey leads the groups dash to the game shop. Behind him is Honda. Then is Yugi and Saikoro who looks like she's being smothered by Joey's jacket cause it's so big on her. Lastly, is me of course. You have to be used to being last when you need to observe situations. 

The whole run to the game store was silent. When we finally got there it we were all completely soaked. The door was locked but thankfully Yugi had a key. I was the last one in and the last one to get a towel but I didn't mind. 

Saikoro was of course the first to get a towel. I guess you could say I was a little jealous but I was also extremely happy for her. She seemed to not have a lot of friends so this was a definite change of pace for her. Having Honda and I as her friends and Joey and Yugi crushing on her.

While Yugi was gone, finding a game for all of us to play, Joey went over to Saikoro and sat next to her. I made sure to listen extremely carefully. I didn't have to worry about Honda talking cause he was too caught up in texting Joey's sister. 

I pulled out my own phone and pretended to be texting someone. I had to hear what the 'heartless' Joey Wheeler was about to say to his old bully victim. 

"H-here, you can have your coat back..." Saikoro said shyly and started to take off the jacket. 

Joey stopped her. "It's okay. You should keep it. You look a little cold." Joey said looking away from Saikoro acting like he didn't care. It was cute, really. He's trying so hard when Saikoro has obviously already fallen for Yugi. 

"Really? Thank you, Joey." She says with a smile. I don't think I've seen her smile like that. That must be what her real smile looks like and not the fake one she gives when people, rarely, ask her whats wrong. 

I see Joey glance at Saikoro but then he quickly looked away. I start to wonder why he looked away so quickly but then I see his face turn red. 

I swear I'm gunna fangirl all over the place. This is just too cute!!

Joey keeps his face hidden and then he starts to get up. "You should really smile more often. It's really beautiful." He says and walks away. A little cheesy but its still extremely cute none the less.

I watch as Saikoro goes firetruck red and brings her knees to her face to hide it. She curls up into a little ball on the couch and stays like that.

Just then Yugi walks in the room and glares at a smirking Joey. Yugi sits next to Saikoro and I see Joey's smirk vanish without a trace as Yugi wraps his arms around Saikoro.

"You're not cold are you, Sai?" Yugi asks as he holds Saikoro. Saikoro tucks herself tighter into her safety ball. 

"N-no, I-I'm okay." She mumbles. 

And thus the war starts.
