( note : this will be slightly different from the first two so don't get confused, this focuses on ashton before and after the fosters )
Ashton Irwin-Foster is the oldest in the household, and he happens to be the first adopted kid of the Fosters. Ashton was given up from birth as his birth mother wasn't able to take care of him. From then, Ashton jumped from foster house to foster house waiting for the day he'd actually be adopted. Even with such an unfortunate luck, Ashton remained happy and cheerful and his optimism worked because at the age of seven he was adopted by Rachel and Dina Foster.
He was happy to find out he wasn't alone either. He found that he had two siblings who both seemed to be fond of him and he enjoyed that. When he was about thirteen, he got another sibling named Michael. Michael was a troubled kid but after all he warmed up to the family, even with his angry outlook on everything.
Now, the Foster house is essentially complete and Ashton is happy with both of his moms and his three siblings.
