I knew I was pregnant a couple weeks before I told Robert. I know I should've told him earlier, but I wanted a good way to surprise him. I found mugs on Etsy that said grandma and grandpa on them and sent them to my family and his. They'd arrive in a couple of days. As for Robert, his said "I'm going to be a dad" with an arrow pointing up.

I woke up early, hiding my morning sickness, and made coffee before he woke up. Eventually he came downstairs to eat breakfast before I went to class for the day.

"Morning."

"Good morning." He grabbed the creamer out of the fridge and I handed him the mug, grabbing my phone to take a picture as he took his first sip.

"Why are you taking a picture?" I just looked at him smiling, hoping he would look at the mug. It took him a while, but he finally got it. "I'm going to be-" He looked up at me, grinning from ear to ear. He set his mug down and came over to kiss me.

"Surprise!" I covered my face, elated that I could finally tell him and everyone in our lives.

"You said you were going to tell me once you found out."

"Okay so I waited a couple of weeks. What does it matter? You're the first person I told and I wanted to make it perfect."

"Scar."

"Robert." He looked at me, trying to guilt trip. "We're having a baby. Be excited!"

"I am. When is your first appointment?"

"Two days." I couldn't hold back my smile and I was about to start crying. After all the fights, the time spent apart, we were going to be parents. Didn't matter what it was, we would have a child come March or April. "I scheduled it around skating time, don't worry. I also asked Fluery who his wife goes to."

"Next question is what are you drinking in that mug."

"Caffeine free green tea."

"That's my girl." He kissed my forehead. "I love you so much. I have no idea what I'd do without you."

He hugged me, not wanting to let go. Both of us had things to do, but neither of us wanted to go. He enjoyed skating with former teammates at the new complex but soon he would be going to St. Louis for a couple informal skates before camp started.

Now that we would become parents to something other than dogs, I was definitely starting to question how well I could take care of a child by myself. I know I'll have help, but it's still scary.

"This calls for a celebration." He smirked, kissing my neck.

"Morning sickness and sex don't mix. And I can't drink."

"No but you can have comfort food for brunch."

"I have class."

"Damn. Well, I'll take you to dinner and then we can see about the sex thing." He kissed my forehead before finishing breakfast for me. He told me to take a shower and get dressed.

Once it set in for him, he was happy. Ecstatic, actually. He started planning everything out, deciding that the nursery should be green with elephants.

"Robert, slow down. I still have a couple weeks before I get out of the first trimester and we can tell everyone."

"Okay. I'll wait to find out what we're having before I go shopping in St. Louis." He kissed my forehead, following me up to the bedroom as I got ready for my four hour seminar.
