You're walking home from school on the last day before the official summer vacation. You always dreaded the walk home from what- or who- you had to face on the way there. Your parents just happened to move next door to Olly Molander, your tormentor and bully of the last four years... He's teased you, pestered you in the hallways, and even turned a few of your old friends on you; ending some of your closest friendships in the beginning of 9th grade...
As you walk up your driveway, you see Olly basically waiting for you, leaning against the wall by your front door. You immediately turn on your heel and start walking to the backyard to use the back door to avoid him at any costs. You hear other footsteps and you know he's following you... You can't take anymore of this game and all the anger you've bottled up inside finally boils over, "What do you want?!" you snap at him. "Whoa, calm down. I just wanna talk," he says so nonchalantly but you're not buying it at all. "I know you're not here to just talk so just get it over with... Tease me, make fun of me, hell, even slap me across the face if it'll get you to just leave me alone!" you scream. Luckily no one in your family is home yet so you don't have to worry about the volume of your voice. "Why would I hit you?" Olly asks you, sounding 'surprised' you would even bring that up. "Why me?" Your anger has now turned in to hurt and your voice has gotten quiet and tears threaten to escape your eyes. "You know how when you're younger, your parents say 'oh, that boy/girl is teasing you because he/she likes you'? I guess that's the case here... I've fallen for you and I just don't know how to get your attention..." he admits sadly. "You've liked me for 4 years now and that's how you try and get my attention?!" you raise your voice slightly. "No, I started falling for you the summer before senior year." You can't believe Olly. The fact that he's teased you for four years, and liked you for one, has left you speechless. "I just don't know what to say." There's no denying you thought he was attractive but all those years of torment. Olly speaks up again basically reading your thoughts, "I know I've tormented you for so long but if you just gave me a chance, I know- I swear- I'll prove it to you, 97 ways if it takes that many to prove that I have fallen for you." You contemplate whether or not to give him a chance... "One date. And if you're still mean then you have to leave me alone forever..." A smile spreads across Olly's face, knowing you're actually giving him a chance.
