Don't Hit Women

Ashley's POV

"Dad!?" I screamed. He stared at me, speechless. Tears formed in my eyes. I turned away and ran out.
"Ashley!" He yelled. He ran up to me and grabbed my arms.
"What are you doing here?" He demanded.
"I should ask you the same thing, who is that?" I yelled.
"Listen, I made a mistake, I'm-"
"Don't even say that you're sorry because we both know damn well that you're not." I said. I ripped my arms away from his grip and started calling my mom.
Me- can you come pick me up?
Mom- yeah, where are you?
Me- New Jersey... I found Dad.
Dad took the phone out of my hand and talked to Mom. I couldn't here what she was saying.
"I'm taking you home," Dad said.

We got in the car and drove back to New York. We didn't speak at all until we pulled up in my apartment building.
"I don't like what you did," Dad said pushing the elevator button.
"Me? I'm not the one that left and didn't tell anyone where I was going," I said.
"Don't tell your mom that I moved in with her."
"Are you serious? She deserves to know the truth! And who even was that chick?"
"Her name is Kathy. I didn't mean to hurt anyone, but-"
"No Dad, you were only thinking about yourself." I got out of the elevator and opened the apartment door. Mom was sitting on the couch.
"Elliot, it's about time you showed up! What were you doing in Jersey?"
"Liv, I moved in with someone else. I met this girl a couple weeks ago-"
"You cheated on me a couple weeks ago!? Elliot I would never do that to you! But you still have a daughter that needs you! You can't just leave like that and not tell her where you're going!" She screamed. The toilet flushed and Brian walked out to the livingroom.
"What the hell is he doing here!?" Dad screamed.
"I needed someone when you were gone... What's the big deal?" Mom yelled back at him.
"Ashley, let's go take a walk," Brian said grabbing his coat. I knew what he was trying to do. I needed to get out of the argument. I needed to give them some space.

Brian and I walked around Central Park. We had lunch and talked for a little bit.
"Can we go back to the apartment now?" I asked annoyed.
"I'm sure we can," Brian smiled, standing up.
"Finally!" I said relieved.
"It must have took a lot of courage for you to go to Jersey," Brian said.
"Eh, it wasn't that big of a deal. I just wasn't expecting him to be with her," I said awkwardly.
"Have you done that before?"
"I snuck out a couple times. I went to Amanda's house one time, and Fin's. Fin was so mad at me!" I said laughing at the memory.
"Who's Amanda?" Brian asked. We walked in the apartment and went in the elevator.
"She's the new girl, and Nick is the new guy. They replaced Munch and the Captain."
"Oh, and now someone has to replace your dad."
"Yup, why don't you do it?"
"I like my job now," he laughed. We opened the apartment door and walked inside. It was so quiet.
"Mom? Dad? Are you here?" I called.
"Daddy left," Mom said from her room. Brian and I walked in her room.
"How'd it go?" Brian asked. Mom was facing the wall.
"It was okay. I think I'm going to take a nap," she said. I knew something was wrong. She was hiding a bruise the same way I did when I was assaulted.
"Mom," I made her face me and Brian. Her lip was split open and her eye was swollen shut.
"I'll kill him," Brian said walking out.
"Brian no!" Mom jumped up and threw her arms around his neck.
She started crying. "Please stay here with me," she whispered. Mom and Brian layed on Mom's new bed and Brian motioned me to lay beside him. I fell asleep on Brian's chest watching Full House.

Olivia's POV

I couldn't sleep. Elliot really scared me, he's never hit me before. I didn't even feel it at first. We were screaming and the next thing I knew, I was on the floor. Elliot ran out. What kind of coward runs out like that? He changed completely.

Brian had his arm wrapped around me and I think Ashley's on the other side of the bed too. I started rethinking about what happened earlier. Brian's fingers ran up and down my side.
"It's going to be okay baby. Get some rest," he whispered. I scooted closer to him and fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning and got ready for work. Ashley came with me because Brian had to work too.
"Don't tell anyone how I got this black eye," I said to Ashley.
"Well, people are going to ask you," she said matter of factly. She was wearing yoga pants and a sweatshirt. She's not happy with me because I made her get out of bed.
"Don't tell them anything. Especially anything about Brian," I warned. 
"Okay, geez Mom." She said rolling her eyes.
"Have you talked to your dad?"
"No."
"Are you going to?"
"No."
"Ashley! That's your father! I would die to know where my father is and what he's doing!"
"Well I'm not you Mom! I don't want to talk to someone who's abusive like that!" She shouted. I rolled my eyes and pulled into the parking lot. Ashley got out and slammed her door.

Ashley's POV

I'm so tired of my mom, I hate my dad. I actually like Brian, but I can't talk about him. I don't get it, literally my life is so confusing. I pulled out Ananda's chair and sat down.
"Remember what I said about my eye," Mom reminded me. She opened and closed her office door.
"Hey, here again?" Fin asked.
"Yup, unfortunately."
"What's wrong now?" He asked.
"Mom and Dad."
"What happened?"
"She has a black eye, Dad hit her. But you can't tell her that I told you. She's going to make up some stupid excuse, but it was Dad." I whispered.
"When did you see your dad?"
"When I told Mom that I was going out for lunch. I took a cab to Jersey. He cheated on Mom with some Kathy chick," I said.

It was 5:30 pm and nobody got a case all day. Everybody looked so bored. Amanda and Nick were whispering to each other and Fin was playing with a yo-yo.
"Hey guys, later do you want to go to the bar and have a few drinks?" Mom asked.
"I'm in," Nick said.
"Me too." Amanda smiled.
"Sounds good, but who's watching that one?" Fin asked, pointing to me.
"She can have Maya over and have a sleep over," Mom said.

Olivia's POV

Now that everyone is going to the bar, I can text Brian.
Me- hey, you wanna go to the bar 2night?
B- ya. Who's all going?
Me- you can finally meet the squad!
B- it's about damn time. Lol g2g.
Me- stay safe ;)

I was so excited for tonight.
