Elsa's POV
Everything has changed.
Someone knows about my powers. Not just one person, but six. What's going to happen now?
I put myself in danger. Even worse, I put Jack in danger, as well. If something happened to him on my behalf, I could never live with myself.Jack stood by the edge of the field, facing the direction of the road. He ran his fingers through his hair in distress.
I used my powers to destroy my ice forest, making sure not to leave any evidence of our whereabouts.The walk home was a quiet one. Neither Jack or I uttered a single word. I'm pretty sure we were both contemplating on the situation at hand. We have yet another group of freaks on our tails, and even worse-
-there's someone else out there with ice powers.
But where? And who?
I never realized so many people had access to magic. This made me see the world in a whole new perspective. I never believed in paranormal stuff, so experiencing it head on is incredibly overwhelming.Once we reached Jack's house, he entered his house without saying a word, not even a goodbye. What was going on with him?
He must be worried, scared even. After what happened to that child and his parents, I would be afraid, too. Maybe I should go check up on him.
I didn't even bother knocking on the door."Jack?" I said quietly, "Are you alright?" He was sitting at his kitchen island, fingers laced together behind his head with his elbows propped on the counter. "I'm fine," he said sternly. This was unlike Jack: short brief, answers.
"Jack, c'mon," I whispered sadly, "You know you can tell me the truth."
He didn't reply, sitting motionless. This whole thing must be traumatizing. Unlike me, Jack isn't use to the pressure of being hunted down by numerous people.
"I understand this must all be stressful," I said with as much understanding as I could muster, "but I promise nothing will happen to you or your family."
At first, Jack did nothing, but then he shifted his gaze towards me. His blue eyes were bloodshot. There was no doubt he was holding back tears.
"Elsa, we don't know what'll happen. Someone's tracking you down, and there's no doubt they'll find me, too."
He sighed and adjusted his posture.
"If they find me, they find my family..." A lone tear ran down his face, but Jack quickly wiped it away.
"I couldn't save my mom and dad. I was lucky enough to even save Emma," he said with sadness, "I just can't repeat what happened."
I sighed and walked closer to Jack, hugging from the side, placing my head on top of his.
"Everything will be alright in the end," I spoke soothingly. "I can't say there won't be a few bumps in the road, but I know we'll all be okay once this is over."
"But when does it end?" Jack said with doubt. I wish I could give him an answer, but I didn't have one.
"I don't know when, but it will," I said confidently. Jack exhaled, then nodded. He stood up from the island stool, immediately pulling me into a strong embrace.
I feel like there was something Jack wasn't telling me. Ever since we were almost caught, he's been on edge about his family, both previous and present.
No one has a clue that I have powers, much less him.
But I didn't feel like pressing him on the subject.
~~~~~~
"Elsa, he's really upset," Kristoff knitted his eyebrows with concern. "What punishment does he plan on giving me?" I shrugged. "Probation? Lashings? No pay for a month?"
"Well, that's the thing, Els-" he said with slight confusion, "-he didn't give you one."
Weird. Of course, this was a good thing, but when it comes to Pitch, there's always a catch.
"There's no such thing as 'going unpunished', Kristoff," I said, "He's going to make me do something."
"You shouldn't have pinned this entire thing on yourself," he sighed.
"Yes, I should have. If you took some of the blame, there's no doubt Pitch would've stopped you from going to college."
He didn't say anything because he knew I was right.
"I can handle whatever he throws my way. You don't have to worry," I said, giving a small smile.
He nodded.
"Now, where were we? What's our next assignment?" I asked, attempting to change the subject.
"Well, it seems as if there's some sort of supernatural activity going on in Arendelle," he began, "Pitch wants us to investigate and exterminate the source."
I stood still, taking in the new information.
But then it hit me.
"Um, what kind of supernatural activity, Kristoff?"
"From what I heard, some sort of 'ice witch' is running around."Well, looks like the on-going pile of Elsa's problems keeps on building.
