The college buzzed with the usual sounds, the hustle of students in the corridor, professors striding toward their classes, and peons hurrying about in haste.
Raghav entered his classroom with his usual calm demeanor, his sharp eyes scanning the room as students greeted him. He acknowledged them with a polite nod.
Then, without anyone noticing, his gaze found Janki's.
She mouthed a soft hi. His eyes briefly melted, lips curving into the hint of a smile before he quickly masked it with his composed expression.
Adjusting his notes, he began the lecture.
"Today we will discuss Sarojini Naidu's love lyrics. Naidu is often called the Nightingale of India, not only for her nationalism but also for her poetry's lyrical quality. Her love poems blend deep emotion with delicate imagery, often balancing desire with restraint."He paused, his gaze sweeping across the room, careful not to linger on Janki for too long.
"Take, for example, 'The Queen's Rival.' It speaks of rivalry, longing, and the subtle ways in which love finds expression, even when it cannot be openly declared. Notice how the words are tender yet restrained, much is felt, but little is said."
His tone softened, almost unconsciously.
"That's the essence of Naidu's lyrics...love that doesn't always announce itself, yet resonates deeply in silence."For a moment, Janki felt as if the words were not addressed to the class, but to her alone. Their eyes met fleetingly, before Raghav turned back to his notes, his composure returning like a shield.
"Now," he continued more firmly, "let's analyze the poetic devices she uses."
The lecture continued for an hour. As it wrapped up, Raghav made his leave, but not before stealing one last glance at Janki who winked at him with her usual playful look.
He shook his head, suppressing a smile, and walked outside.
After the rest of the lectures, Janki stood outside her college with Vanika and Krishnav, chatting casually. Vanika said something that sent them all into laughter.
"Guys," Janki said, still smiling, "aaj shaam ko ghar par Christmas party rakhi hai. Tum dono bhi aana, okay?"
Vanika put a hand on her heart dramatically. "Haye janeman, tumne kaha aur hum hazir! Meri lugai ka hukum sar aankhon par."
Janki giggled, while Krishnav shook his head at her usual antics.
Just then, Rohan approached them with his usual smile.
"Hey guys..." he greeted.
They acknowledged him warmly, and soon the conversation flowed easily, from college gossip to notes to silly jokes.
Suddenly, a mischievous idea flashed in Janki's mind. She leaned forward.
"Well, Rohan... aaj mere ghar shaam ko party hai. Would you like to come?"
