"If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is save every day
Till Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you"

-Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce

The day had come. Dan saw his old friends again that day, but worst of all, he saw Amy. He wished that he could have run into them when Phil wasn't with him, then maybe they wouldn't have gotten into a fist fight. Maybe we should start from the beginning, before this incident happened.

It had been another two months. They had attended Mr. Lester's funeral, which had been overwhelmingly sad even for Dan who didn't even know the guy. After the funeral, Phil lied in bed scream-crying whilst Dan held him to his chest, rocking back and forth. Mrs. Lester had locked herself in her room, pretending not to hear the sound of her son breaking.

Dan tried to make it better, planting kisses all over Phil's face, holding him close, never leaving his side unless it was to use the bathroom or get Phil some food. It had taken weeks for Phil to get better. He had begun eating again and took a much needed shower. He then broke down again, apologizing over and over to Dan, saying that he was a horrible person for taking advantage of him.

"Sh... Phil, it's okay." Dan would keep repeating over and over again. It had taken another week for Phil eventually leave his bed. Mrs. Lester was still locked up in her room. Dan tried to help her as well, but half of the time her bedroom was locked and he didn't dare to barge in there. Phil was a lot better at taking care of her once he was feeling better.

Dan still didn't know how Phil's dad died or why his parents got into a divorce. He didn't know anything but he didn't want to pry for answers. Instead he only kept quite and comforted Phil when he needed it.

They had begun to fall into a pattern afterwards. Phil would normally wake up first and make some breakfast. Dan would come downstairs a few minutes later and wrap his arms around Phil as he cooked. Dan would kiss his neck and distract him until Phil would tell him to stop, laughing as he said so. They would eat their breakfast in front of the TV, then Dan would leave for his work at the gas station. He would come home before Phil, make some dinner, and they would sit at the table, listening to music and just talking.

That day was the day that they both had days off, which was quite rare. They decided to go down to London and go out for both lunch and dinner, do a bit of shopping.

"We should get out of the house." Dan mumbled, still in bed next to Phil. He kissed Phil's bare shoulder and the side of his neck.

"But I'm so comfortable... Can we stay here for a little bit longer?" Phil groaned, turning around and nuzzling into Dan's chest.

"You've been locked up in the house for weeks, it's time we get some fresh air. Maybe we could go down to London and get some lunch and do a bit of shopping." Dan smiled down at him, running his hands through Phil's hair and pushing it out of his face.

Phil sighed and looked up at Dan. "Fine." he whined, placing a kiss on his lips before rolling out of bed. Dan chuckled and got up after him. He pulled on one of Phil's black sweaters and some black skinny jeans.

Dan drove them down to London, parking their car in an empty parking lot. They walked the rest of the way to the London Underground. Dan still wasn't very comfortable with showing any kind of affection to Phil in public, so he kept his hands to himself and would occasionally look over and smile, which secretly drove Phil crazy.
