Chapter 2

I woke up in the morning to the constant beeping of the alarm signaling I had to get up for school. Whatever happened must've been some twisted nightmare. I climbed out of bed, but fell as soon as my feet hit the floor. My ankle hurt. Badly. I decided not to call Thomas or Minho in a panic, because I probably just pulled a muscle and I'm sore. I continued to get ready for my day with a limp that constantly wouldn't let me forget about my dream.

Once at school Thomas met me by my locker. I loved him but he looked horrible today.
'Whats wrong with you?' I asked.
'Uh, I had a bad dream? Have you seen Minho?' He answered, he looked like he was scared of something but I brushed it off.
'Yeah me too, and no not yet'
'Oh okay.' Thomas replied.

The first bell rang so Thomas and I walked to our first period class, science.
'Why are you limping, newt?' Thomas asked.
'Don't know, tommy.'
'Are you okay?'
'Yeah, I'm fine'
One of the most awkward conversations in my life.
We sat down next to each other as the second bell rang, which meant class had begun. Recently we have been learning about lunar phases, something we had learned in middle school, but here we are, seniors, learning about them. We learn about them every year. It seems that this only happens in our area though.
'Tonight, there will be a supermoon. This is when a new or full moon happens on the same day as when the moon is closest to the earth. It is rumored that this brings a higher chance of natural disasters.' I zoned out, thinking and replaying my dream over and over again, it felt so real.
----------
Soon, it was lunch and we were all sitting at our table, me sitting in the middle of Thomas and Minho, across from Thomas was Teresa, and next to Teresa was Brenda and Gally. Gally and Thomas didn't really get along, not many people get along with Gally, actually, but I also don't really like Teresa either.
'Hey Tom!' Teresa said getting Thomas' attention.
'Whats that mark on your shoulder?' She asked. Thomas raised an eyebrow before pushing his shirt back a little bit revealing a small sun. Almost like a henna tattoo.
'Uhm, I don't know, where did this come from?' He answered.
'Newt! You have one too!' Thomas exclaimed. Sure enough I had a small crescent moon on my shoulder. This caught me off guard and I didn't understand where something like it would come from. I licked my fingers and rapidly rubbed them over the symbol praying it would go away. It didn't.
----------
It was later that night and my mom and dad informed me that they had a business trip to attend to and would be back tomorrow. I decided to just hang out and enjoy my Friday night, but I was really curious about the symbols on our shoulders so I did some research. What I found surprised me. Why should that be on our shoulders? I reached over to grab my phone about to call Thomas when I had an incoming call from him.
'Hey tommy, I was just about to call you' I said.
'Newt...come to your door...right now.' He responded before hanging up. The panic was evident in his voice. I trotted down stairs and opened the door where Thomas was standing with his head down.
'Whats wrong tommy?' I asked, and then it happened, what I saw I could never unsee. What happened next, I could never forget as it spiraled a change in my life forever.
