Nightmares (Newtmas AU)

Chapter 5

'Newt... before you were born there was a war,' mum started.
'Many people died and it lasted a very long time, no one pulled ahead in this war and all it was doing was destroying the people, the war was between the different types of the supernatural, and people who wanted to be open about it, and people who wanted to keep the supernatural a secret... Towards the end the leader at the time announced a prophecy. He said that there will be a time where this war will happen again but for a different cause, to keep everyone alive, and it would all be caused by one boys decisions....that boy is you, newt.'
It took a while for it to sink in, everything she was saying was too complicated for my foggy brain to handle, and she gave me the short version.
'So basically there is going to be another war, and it's all my fault because I went into the woods?' I asked.
'Basically.' She replied.
'I- what do I do?' I stuttered.
'I honestly don't know how to help you or your friends. I do have a couple of tips though, master your abilities, protect your friends and be careful who you trust.' My mum then stood up and walked out of the room for me to soak in the information.
'Mum! I don't even know what to do or how to do it! I don't know anything! They're going to come after me and I don't know how to protect the people I love!'
The only thing I got in response was a sad smile.
The next thing I thought of was to contact Minho and Thomas to figure out something I could do.
Text, call, or in person. Why does it feel like I'm breaking up with someone?
I decided a group video call would be best, it would be less intimidating. I relayed the exact same information that my mum had just told me and waited for a reaction. They opened and closed their mouths like fish a few times before actually saying anything.
'I'm so sorry,' I repeated over and over again before Thomas shushed me, and began to speak.
'This isn't your fault, we went with you, and we will stay with you. We will figure out what to do, and fight back, but first we need to figure out what they want.'
