I walked down the endless road for what seemed like hours, my surroundings pure fog and silence. I didn't know where I was going but when I lifted my head up I was standing in my driveway. I glanced over to the woods; it felt like I was being drawn into it, but I fought the urge and continued down my driveway.

There was only one vehicle parked, and I recognized the sleek black automobile to be Tommy's. The thought of being with him after the long day I've had made my stomach drop with relief. I made it to the door and considered knocking before remembering it was my own home. Once I had entered I saw a worried Thomas staring off into nothingness.

"Tommy," I called out. His eyes met mine, but no words were spoken. I could see and feel every emotion that he was feeling and I couldn't help but blame myself for it.
I walked towards him as he stood up and helped close the distance until we met in a tight embrace. His warmth kept me grounded, and helped me to remember that we were all going through this, and the only way to over come it is together.

"I'm glad you're okay," Thomas said, his voice barely above a whisper. I didn't respond, but I knew I'd be okay not to.

He took my hand and slowly guided me up the steps to my bedroom. The world felt so off, like I was looking through a kaleidoscope, and the only thing that was clear was Thomas.
Once I was on my bed I had no intent of ever leaving and Thomas was one of the main reasons.

I don't know how long it was that we laid there in silence giving chaste kisses every so often, but I loved it, it felt like the world was okay.
Sometime after the sun had gone down I looked into Thomas's eyes and I wanted to say a million things, but all I could say was, "I'm sorry."

He shook his head in response, then added, "There is nothing to be sorry for. Newt, we don't understand anything that's happening right now, and everything seems like shit, but we're gonna fight until we have nothing more to give. I will fight for you. But blaming this on yourself is idiotic." His little speech gave me hope that we could beat this even though we don't know what we're up against.

I opened my eyes to nothingness, at some point I had fallen asleep, luckily not having a nightmare for the first time since this had happened. The warmth next to me reminded me that Thomas was here. I pushed myself up to glance over at the alarm clock to get an idea of what time it was. It took a couple minutes for my eyes to adjust from red strobes into 2:34 am. I plopped my body back into its original position to give myself a chance to reflect on the day.

Today felt as if the world's saturation had been dialed down to zero. Everything could only be described as grey, which perfectly mirrored my void emotions. I had what felt like so much energy, but soon found that was false as I had quickly fallen back asleep.

When I woke up next the sun was awake and sharing her light with all. The morning was still, but there was a lot of eagerness in its sounds. The sound of rushing cars contrasted the sounds of nothingness from the previous day. I looked over to Thomas who had also just woken up. His smile and constant desire for happiness was almost as bright as the sun, and I couldn't help, but smile with it. I pushed myself forward to meet his chest with my head.

"Good morning , Sleeping Beauty," he mumbled into my hair. I stayed in my position before questioning,

"Are you hungry? We didn't eat last night." The look of sheepishness had answered for him and with much reluctance I got out of the warm covers.

I marched down the steps into the kitchen, as I was setting everything up I looked out the window that was adjacent to the sink. The green grass and blue skies almost looked fake, it was unbelievable.

I shuffled over to my right and hit a few buttons on the radio that sat on the counter. Melodic tunes filled the air with no straight patterns.

I continued to make a simple breakfast that'd tame the animal named Hunger when the music stopped and a man's voice came through the radio, "After investigating the murder of the dead hikers, 14 more bodies have been found. The bodies were brought to the coroners earlier this morning in hopes to identify the remains. Making the case stranger, not only were there human remains but 4 dead wolves. Scientists are also working on the case as wolves haven't been in these parts for years even though there have been suspected spottings."

I stopped what I was doing and ran up the stairs.

"Tommy, wake up!" I exclaimed. His eyes fluttered open, but was annoyed as to why I was being so loud.

"Hurry up and get dressed, we're going to investigate a crime scene." I stated while throwing clothes at him and rushing out the door.
