Jessica POV.
I awake in pure blackness, rubbing my eyes for a moment. It takes a moment for me to get used to it, but I become slightly able to see outlines in the darkness, and some things around me, due to the light coming from the hole I fell through.
Note to self, stuck in hand tunnel?
Go up.I shake my head, and feel my way around, feeling a slight dampness from the cave. I suddenly remember that we had packed matches, and opened up my backpack.
"You okay, Paige?" I lifted her out, slightly.
"A little dizzy, but okay all the same." She smiled, looking around. "Boy, sure is dark!"
I grab the pack of matches, lighting one. I move over to what appears to be a table, and suddenly see a tall figure sitting at a chair. In my panic, I drop the match into a small puddle. The figure tsks, and snaps it's fingers, lighting a flame. It lights a candle on the table, and illuminates the room.
I finally get a better look at the tall person, noticing it's brown skin and pink, curly hair. It harrumphs to get my attention, and I look up to see a glare on its face.
"Finally, you wake up. I've been sitting hear for thirty minutes." They pick at their nails, holding them up to the light to inspect them.
"Well... Sorry."
They shoot me another glare. "Well, you should be." They sigh and get up from the table. "My name is Böwïëd. I am here to get you out of the labyrinth."
I hesitate, remembering that ugly gnome from Jareth's Labyrinth, and how he took me back to the beginning.
"H-hold on. How do I know you won't take me back to the beginning?"
Böwïëd sighed again, shaking his head. "Sadly, I was made not to lie. I was going to take you back to the beginning. Those were my orders. And they still are. You don't know how to get out of this oubliette. I am your only way out, missy." Böwïëd puts his hands on his hips, and allows me to see many ribbons that had adorned his wrists, all different colors and patterns.
I remember my hair ribbon that I had on, and removed it. It had small diamonds, and was a small reminder of the Ball. "What if... What if I gave you this? Would you take me on the right path?"
Böwïëd gasped softly at the piece of fabric, and snatched it from my hands.
"W-well... Yes. I always keep my word, and never go back on a deal. If you let me have this, I will assist you in whatever you need." He inspected it closer, looking at the diamonds.
"Wh-what are these called?""Cubic Zirconium. A... Very fancy thing, from my area. Worth a lot of money."
"How... Foreign. I love it. Come now. Let's get you on the right track. " Böwïëd lead me over to a door, and opened it. He pushed me through, and followed suit. "If we keep going through this way, we'll be out to the palace in no time. I'll be seeing you." Böwïëd began to leave, but I grabbed him by his collar, and pulled him back.
"You said you would assist me in whatever I needed. Now, come along."
Böwïëd sighed, and muttered to himself angrily, tying the ribbon around his arm and crossing them. We then set out on our way, into the unknown.
Jareth POV.
I watch from the screen as Jessica and her new friend walk through the corridor, into the right direction to the palace. I smile over at Cynthia, who is holding a large bowl of popcorn, and frowning.
"How dare Böwïëd! Just because she gave him some sort of... Frilly thing, doesn't mean he can just go and follow whoever he wants!" She threw a price of popcorn at the screen, a faerie catching it and bringing it back to her for her to stuff into her mouth.
"Well, he's a Drækin. And all Drækin keep their word to whomever they please. If someone offers them something of value, they are obligated to keep their word, even when something more valuable is offered. It's only natural for him." I smirk at Cynthia, who has gotten much more angry.
"Faelyyn... Fire all Drækin. Immediately." A small faerie flutters off into another room, her small huffs and pants growing softer. She must be very overworked.
"Cynthia, don't you think you're taking this too far? I mean, you're making a big deal out of no--"
"DONT YOU DARE CALL THIS NOTHING. YOU HAVE RUINED MY LIFE!" Cynthia's fat arm jiggles as she gestures.
"BECAUSE OF YOU, I WAS A NOBODY, A LAUGHINGSTOCK OF THE WHOLE REALM. ALL I WANTED WAS TO BE THE PRETTIEST PRINCESS OF THEM ALL! BUT YOU!" She gestures to me.
"YOU JUST HAD TO RUN AWAY, DIDNT YOU? IT DIDNT MATTER IF I TRIED TO KILL YOU OR NOT! WE WERE STILL MEANT TO BE MARRIED!"
Cynthia began to sob, 5 faeries bringing over a box of tissues. Cynthia blew her nose, and ate more popcorn.I sigh, leaning back against my cage.
Jessica and Böwïëd could not get here quick enough.
(A/N: Hehe! How's it going? I really feel like I am developing this story and the characters I made well, you know? Like, they all have distinct personalities. Anyway. Böwïëd's name is actually a reference to a certain singer, hehe. One we all know and love, David Bowie! Anyway. I'm thinking of holding a contest to name Jareth and Jessica's baby. Would you guys be interested in that? If so, drop a comment below, and I'll think of a really good question for you all to answer. )
