A/N ~ COULD BE A TRIGGER

The next few days were hard. Sherlock lived in constant fear that John would do something similar to that of the bathroom incident. Each night he would lie in the bed he had moved close beside John's, and wait until he could hear the sound of John's soft breathing become deeper. Only then he would try fall asleep. Sherlock was always on edge and had made sure there was nothing that John could use to hurt himself in his reach around the house. Each day John was fidgety and restless, desperate to keep habit. Each day Sherlock would hold him and talk to him. Each day they fought it together. What Sherlock didn't realise was that John was fighting a separate war inside his head. Sherlock didn't realise how much John was hurting inside. Sherlock didn't realise that John was trying to find a way to escape everything. Sherlock didn't realise just how bad everything was.

John woke up screaming. "John! Are you okay? John?" Sherlock darted up panicking. What was happening? John was shaking violently, silent tears streaming down his face. He was rocking slightly. Sherlock looked pained. "John? What's wrong? Talk to me please." John couldn't find the words to speak or to describe what he had just experienced. He remained where he was, transfixed on the wall.

*John's Dream*

He was running. Where to he didn't know. He just knew he had to get anyway. He turned around to see demons chasing him. "You can't get away from us." Said one of them, gruff and oddly calm. "You are nothing." Said another. And so it continued, each one saying something.
"You're worthless."
"Pathetic."
"A nuisance."
"Insignificant."
"Nobody."
"No one would ever want you."
"Not enough your beloved Sherlock."
That one stung. Sherlock was everything to John. His guiding light. His life saver. His world. His everything. John's world was torn apart when he saw Sherlock jump of that building. Heck, he loved Sherlock.
John tripped and fell. "See? Pathetic. Can't even run without falling." He got back up and continued running until he realised he was at a cliffs edge. What was he going to do? Jump and drown in the flowing river below the cliff or let his demons get him? "You can't get away John. You can't escape us." This was repeated. It's all he heard. What to do? Time was fast running out. It was too late. His demons were in front of him now. "Goodbye John." The first one said. John looked around panicking, his eyes wild with fright. "No no no no no NO!" there was nowhere to go. He was a goner. The demon pushed him forcefully and John was falling into to the river. The he was drowning. And then--black.

*End Of Dream*

Sherlock didn't know what to do. How could he calm John? "Come on Holmes, you're the worlds best detective as they say, surely you can do this." He said to himself under his breath. "I-I-I was d-drowning. Y-y-you weren't th-there." John managed to say in a small voice, not exactly lying, not exactly telling the whole truth. "Oh John, you're okay now. You know I'd never let you go. You're okay. I'm here." Sherlock was so worried about his flat mate. "Sher...could you maybe sleep with me please? I'm too afraid to sleep alone." John said sheepishly, blushing scarlet. Sherlock's heart skipped a beat at the pet name, John had always called him that. Sherlock had really missed it. "Of course I will John, anything for you to be okay." Sherlock climbed into the bed with John and eventually they both fell asleep.
