our story is of a young boy and a man who changed the world for better or for worse our tale starts in a Viking village called berk, berk doesn't look like much, as it isn't berk is a small island in the middle of nowhere, where it snows for most of the year, and hails the rest, but it isn't so much the town or the island that makes this story worth hearing but the people who resided there,
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a young boy of fifteen the disappointment of the village and son of the town's chief Stoick the Vast hiccup was small all of 5'7 at his age, spent most of his time alone, the others didn't like him much, he worked in the tool shop making weapons of others, and staying out of the way,
another thing about berk was that they killed the pest of dragons, to witch hiccup couldn't bring himself to do, so he watched the night black nightfury, run around the cove he had fallen into
it had been three weeks since he cut to ropes from the dragon hiccup had started to learn about dragons, toothless witch hiccup had named the dragon, lost one of his tail fins he couldn't fly alone, but with every passing day hiccup found himself packing his bags,
how could you live with people who would kill the only thing that hiccup understood and understood him,
hiccup had a bag worth of drawing and notebooks another bag with essentials for living, tying the bag to his dragon petting the furys head scratching the black scales, as the fury lend into the touch,
"Hey, bud ill find us a place a place where we can be accepted," hiccup told the dragon who likely didn't understand him but was pleased anyways, looking out to the setting sun hid father would go looking for him if he left now,
he would leave tomorrow, if he left after his father left the house it would be hours before anyone knew sure he would skip dragon killing practice but he didn't care he just assumed that gobber would guess that hiccup was out in the woods or something.
after eating his last meal on berk, and sitting down at his desk one final time he took a pencil and a scrap paper scratching his head the though of words to say, what was there to say to the father that could never be happy with him, the friends he never had, the mother who had died.
father,
I'm not wanted here don't define the facts, I would be better somewhere else I've gone to find it, somewhere out there,
Hiccup
there wasn't much more to say, with that hiccup took the note placing it on the desk felling tears grow in his eyes, he never liked berk, and yet leaving it all togeather seemed so hard, the tears feel from his glossy green eyes hitting his blanket on his bed shutting his eyes he recalled memories that gave him hope taking a deep breath as the sun now rose into his window his father slamming the front door
hiccup looked around the small room he had always lived in, he had taken down his drawings taking all his clothing from the drawers, it was a desk and a bed now that was it,
no evidence that anyone had lived in it expect one single note on the desk,
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
stoick got home after the sun had set over berk, he some how hadn't seen hiccup all day, no knowing where or not that was a good thing, so he climbed the stairs to his son's room and finding nothing, nothing but a note,
he lost his wife when hiccup was young but now hiccup was gone to
the town was indifferent to the news, all expect the youth,
sure they didn't like hiccup but they wanted to know what happened, so they wandered out into the forset that hiccup had spent so much time in, finding a cove with a small pond in the middle of it.
climbing in on the ground seeing scratches on the walls from a dragon all pulling their weapons to defend them selfs, only finding scales but they weren't like normal scales they were dark as the night sky
nightfury scales
so they brought them to gobber
"well kids there definitely nightfury but there days old the dragon they come from is gone," e told them after looking at the scale,
"well could we find it," astride a tough blond girl asked,
"they don't have maps on them so no," gobber gave her back the scales the texter of the scale was so smooth they were very tough, like metal but softer, she slipped them in the belt of her skirt waving good bye to her friends went home,
she put the scales on her bedside table there were five scales, not enough to do anything with so she just left them there she carried a broken on her body from that day forward keeping it in her boot running her fingers over it when she got anxisuh or upset to calm her,
shoutlout was next in line for becoming chief now so stoick had to start training him, to be fit to rule over people, the work was hard and tough
"assured," her mother came into her young daughter's room, as Astrid was pulling her blond hair out of its braids, to brush it for bed,
"mother," she turned around placing her brush down and strain her poster, her mother hadn't been born a Viking she came from the British isles Astrid father had kidnapped her then they had fallen in love, but her mother was a posish woman,
"darling your father would like you to marrie snoutlout, he has asked for your hand," her mother walked into the room standing behind her daughter, taking the hair brush and running it though Astrid long hair
"mom what im not old enoght i still have to finsh training," asried started she didnt want to marry shoutlout, it wasnt on her plans, she had pland to get marryed but to someone more tame, like fishlegs or even hiccup someone who would respect her as a person not just a wife to someone,
"you're not going to be married tomorrow darling stop stressing but you have to promise your self to him for your twentieth birthday you will be engaged," her mother fretted, of course, this was about status, everything was to her mother,
"I don't want to marry him has," Astrid started
"going to be the next chief and is strong, your father has agreed with your consent, so I would like you to think on it for the night tomorrow evening i will ask again," her mother then put the brush down and left the room Astrid looked in the reflective metal plate she used to fix her hair.
her simmering blue eyes looked back at her, was that all that life had for her to be someones wife, she wanted so much more
