-Start of Chapter 142-

Within a few hours, we're already preparing to leave.

Everything feels rushed — bags tied hastily, soldiers checking saddles, hooves shifting on stone. Dawn hasn't even fully risen, but the courtyard is awake, tense.

I adjust the cloak around my shoulders, trying not to overthink the weight of the sword on my back.

Yeonjun is the first to step in front of me, blocking my path.

"Y/N," he says softly, "do you really have to go?"

His eyes are already glossy with worry.
He's always the emotional one.

"Yes," I whisper. "Oppa... I have to."

He shakes his head, frustrated. "But can't you at least wait a day? Or let us to come with you?"

"No," I say gently, "and you know why. This job isn't yours. It's mine."

Yeonjun swallows hard, but before he can say more, another voice joins in.

Soobin walks up with his arms crossed, pretending to be calm.

"Just so you know," he says, "you better come back soon."

A horse behind him makes a loud snorting noise — a deep, offended hrrmph — like it's agreeing but in a very judgmental way.

I glance at it. "Wow. Even the horse thinks I shouldn't be doing this."

"Exactly," Soobin replies dryly.

I smile despite myself.
"I'll come back. I promise."

Beomgyu appears next, hair messy, expression way too dramatic for this early in the morning.

"You better come back," Beomgyu says, stepping forward with a dramatic sigh.
"Because if you leave me alone with these four stressed idiots, I'm going to lose my mind."

I blink. "That's your concern?"

"Yes," he says firmly. "Do you know how they get when they worry? Yeonjun cries, Soobin overthinks, Huening stress-eats, Taehyun lectures everyone, and I—"

"You complain?" I offer.

He gasps. "Exactly. You get it."

Taehyun approaches with a calmer aura, but his eyes are sharp, observant.

"Two days," he reminds quietly. "That's all. If you're even one hour late, we're riding after you. All of us."

I nod. "I know."

Finally, Huening rushes in — last as always, holding something in his hands.

"I brought you snacks," he says, shoving them at me. "For the road."

I blink. "Oppa, we're not traveling across continents—"

"It's sentimental!" he argues, pushing them harder into my hands. "Just take them!"

I laugh under my breath and tuck them into my bag.

Then Yeonjun steps closer again, voice softer.

"After this is over... let's all go somewhere. The six of us."
His tone shifts hopeful.
"I heard a new theatre opened near the capital. They do musicals every weekend."
