Jude
Something stopped me in my tracks. I looked ahead of me, and there was someone staring me down. I know that kid. He's in the eighth grade, one grade ahead of Connor and I. Well, school is about to end, so I guess he could be considered in ninth grade, and I in eighth grade. I forgot his name, but I have seen him around. He doesn't really talk much, but whenever I talk to him he seems nice.
Right now though, it was kind of odd, because there was no one else around, and he was just staring. Oh no... I hope he didn't see Connor and I holding hands, what if he beats me up? I started toward the other direction.
"Wait, Jude!"
Oh gosh. I prepared to get punched, and turned around. "Um, hey..." I said nervously. He gave me an odd glance.
"Hey. I just wanted to congratulate you for getting an A on the math test," he smiled, then shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Thanks, how did you know?" I asked him. Seriously though, how did he?
"You're in my class," He started laughing. He was?
"Since when? Sorry. I don't really pay attention," I confessed.
"Since you started here. I have always been in that class. Math is not my specialty," he chuckled again. "I'm Dustin by the way." He held his hand out for me to shake it, I did. He had a very noticeable pulse. This is getting weird.
"Hi Dustin," I said. He wore a blue t-shirt with black basketball shorts and running shoes. He seemed more on the skinny side like me, where Connor is pure muscle. He had dark brown hair and clear blue eyes. I'm not gonna lie, he was attractive. I am with Connor though, and I can guarantee you that this kid is straight.
"Um, Jude? Do you want to hang out sometime?" Dustin asked. Now he looked nervous.
"Maybe, I will have to see," I replied.
"Okay, but not on Saturdays. That's when I have baseball games. Well, here is my cellphone number, if you do want to." He handed me a sticky note with the numbers appearing on it in a sloppy handwriting. I smiled, and started toward the other direction. I felt uncomfortable about the fact that I had another boys number. If Connor found out that I had another boys number, he would get really jealous and worried. I decided to what was right and get rid of. I ripped it up and threw it in the trashcan. I felt really bad about it though, I mean, he just wants to be my friend. Why can't I have a friend that is the same sex as me? I decided to pull all of the ripped pieces out of the trashcan, and put it in my pocket. I would put it back together later.
I started to walk home when I saw... Connor? He ran up to me. "Hey," was all he said.
"Connor? Why are you so out of breath?" I asked him, worriedly. He rolled his eyes and laughed.
"I was running, silly," he replied. Seriously, Connor? You really think that I don't know that?
"Well, why were you running?" I asked him. He was panting, and had his hands on his knees. Gosh, whatever it was had to be really important.
"I wanted to tell you that my dad isn't home tonight, and if you wanted to come over, then you could. Why are you still here?" He asked me. Connor's dad, Adam, doesn't really like me to come over that much, so I try to go there as much as possible when he is not home. Adam Stevens is not necessarily homophobic, he just doesn't want his son to be gay. I kind of see where he comes from though. Connor's coming out is all new to him, and seeing your son have a boyfriend when the day before you thought he had a girlfriend can be kind of overwhelming.
"Um... No reason. I would love to come over, I'll let my moms know."
Connor and I started walking toward my house, which wasn't that far away from Anchor Beach. It might have taken about fifteen minutes to walk there. I helped Connor walk with crutches, and we laughed and talked, and every once in awhile he would dramatically trip and I would have to catch him. Only each time, he forgot that he had a huge boot on his foot. That night when he got shot was the worst night of my life. I honestly thought I lost him. If I did, or I should probably say we did, then I would have been broken. I couldn't imagine a world without him, ever.
We arrived at my house, and knocked on the door. Yes, I know it's my house but I still like to knock. Mariana opened the door, and she smiled as she saw Connor, but frowned when she saw the cast.
"How are you holding up, bud?" she asked. Connor laughed.
"Alright, I guess." He answered her. Mariana let us in, and we went to the kitchen where my moms were. "Hi," I said. They brightened up when they saw Connor.
"Hey guys! Do you want something to drink?" Mama asked us. Just to clarify, I call Lena "Mama," and Stef "Mom."
"No thank you-"
"Actually yes, do you have water?" Connor cut me off and smirked. I smiled at him.
"Of course," Mama went to the refrigerator to grab Connor a water bottle.
"Can I go over to Connor's for a little while? We need to study,"
"Study my ass!" Jesus said walking in.
"That's gross," I said, I guess I didn't get the sarcasm because everyone even Connor started laughing.
"That's not what he meant, Jude," Connor chuckled. "But we really do need to study. We have finals coming soon."
"Alright, but you have to be home by eight o'clock! You hear?" Mom laughed. I nodded, and Connor and I left.
"Sorry about Jesus," I said.
"What do you mean? Jesus is hilarious. So is the rest of your family. I love being at your house," he smiled. I felt bad because Connor hardly has a family. Mr. Stevens is never home, and Connor refuses to tell me where his mother is.
"You're welcome anytime, you know," I smiled. He smiled also.
"I know."

Author's Note
Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, and I apologize for the long wait. I just want to clarify something. In this story, I do not have Jesus go to boarding school. I have some things I want to do with his character, so Jesus will be here throughout the story! Thank you for reading, and hopefully the next chapter will be up before Tuesday.
