Johnnies POV

The next morning I awoke to a text message from Alex.

"Coffee Shop? 10:00 a.m.?"

"I'll be there," I replied.

"Cool, see you then :)," She sent immediately after sending mine.

The clock on my night stand said 9:07a.m.

I pull the sheets off of my legs and pull myself up then head to the bathroom. I shower then turn off the knobs. Step out and wipe the steam off of the mirrors.
9:28.
I throw on some clothes and head down the hall to the kitchen.
I grab my keys that were hanging by the door and slam it behind me.
I sit myself behind the wheel, put the key in the egnition and start the car.
I back up and put it into gear and drive down the block.

When i pull into the lot of the corner shop I notice Alex's car is already parked and the front seat is empty.

I step out and lock the door, walk down the sidewalk and walk in.

A bell rings that was on the door signifying that a customer walked in but I ignore it.
Looking around, I see a bright red head of hair facing the opposite way.

Making my way to the booth, I lay my hand on her shoulder letting her know I was here and take my seat across from her.

"Hey," I gasp between my lips.

"Hey," she replies.

After a moment of silence, words form from Alex's mouth.

"I, I had a great time last night," smiling.

"I d-did too." I say, trying not to blush.

"I was wondering if you'd want to hang out again,...tonight maybe?"

"Why not now?" I question, face getting really hot.

"We-we can. Right now?!"

"Well, lets blow this place shall we?"

"You haven't even gotten coffee?" she said, laughing.

I stand up, reaching my hand out in front of her.

"Did you really come just for coffee?"

She takes it and we head out in a swift power walk leaving the money on the table.

Alex's POV

We're in his car, mine left in the dust at the coffee joint. His left hand's on the wheel, his other on the console in between us, inches away from mine.

His eyes are fixed on the road, flying 80 in the 40 degree weather.

We turn down a road, the one we took the previous night by the waters.

His hand reached to the point where its placed on top of mine. Very suttle yet calming.

My fingers innertwined with his. His hold was assuring yet gripped, i knew he wasn't letting go in a meer second. He looks at our hands, combined into one, and meets my gaze and smiles.
His thumb rubbed the top of mine for the rest of the ride.

When the car came to a stop, he turned it off. After a few moments, he looks to his side and our eyes locked.
"Join me?" He almost whispers. His voice so small, cracked and groggy as if he just woke up.
I let go of his hand and give a slight nod, a grin appearing at the corner of my lips.

I open the door and he does the same on his side.

He walks behind me, letting me lead to the spot we sat at last night.
When we arrive, I sit and he does the same. The small tides are quiet, still rough.

Even though the weather was warming up this late March, you could still slightly see our breathes.
His breathing was steady, his chin tucked underneath his plaid scarf.
My jacket wasn't enough, I was still cold.

JOHNNIES POV

Alex was shivering, I could tell from the corner of my eye. I was too, not as bad as her.
I unwrap my scarf from around my neck and lay it over her shoulders, letting her wrap the rest.
I stood up and took off my jacket, leaving my long sleeve shirt as my only warmth.
"Come here," escaped my lips.
She stands infront of me a bit confused.
I drape my jacket over her shoulders.
"Johnnie, you're cold too. You don't have to-"
"Shh, I say, assuring her warmth.

"Thank you" she whispers, standing closer, looking up at me."

Her lips were red, along with her cheeks. Her eyelashes long, batting, while looking at mine. She blushed even redder than what she was.
Her lips looked so kissable. As if the world stopped turning.

The same moment I was in last night, when she pulled away when we were seconds too close.

Alexs POV

I wanted to lean in closer so bad. To breathe in his breathe. To feel his lips pressed against mine.
Should I do it?
Take this risk?

My front pocket rings.

I break the gaze and pull out ny phone.
Shannon?
I answer.
"Hey," A grin on my face.
"You're kidding.
Where?
When?" the grin wiped away as if it wasn't even there.
"I'll be there in a bit,"

Johnnies POV

My face expressionless.
She was going to leave soon.

"That was Shannon. Her boyfriend, Tim left. Ran away with her former roomate of freshman year in college. Let her know through a text and she's completely breaking down."

"Really?" I say, a little heartbroken.
"Yeah, do you mind taking me back to the coffee shop, to get my car?"

"Uhh, yeah."

I lead the way to his car.

The whole ride was silent.
When we made it to the shop she immediately said thank you and got out of my car to enter hers.

Seeing that was nerve wrecking. She pulled out with a wave.
I went straight home after that.
Entered my room and layed on my back with a sigh.

Alexs POV

I pull into Shannon's driveway and realize Johnnie's coats still around me, his scarf tucked around my neck.
I ignore the fact and open her front door. Her eyes reddened with tears. We sit down and she tells me the whole story.
