It's Hero Time (Book One Gravity Falls)

Chapter 9

The kids where eating Corncornos inside Stan's car. Stan is honking while Mabel attaches nachos from her chip bag to her ears.

Mabel: "Ha-ha! Nacho earrings. I'm hilarious!" Mabel said as Hope question how the nachos didn't fall off.

Stan: "That's debatable." Stan said before noticing that they were barely moving. "Aw, come on, what's with all this traffic? And why is it all...covered wagons?" Realizing what was happening Stan looked in shock and horror. "Oh no! No! No!" He pushes gas pedal in a bid to get away.

Y/n: "What the?" Y/n said confused by Stan's erratic behavior.

Stan: "Not today! Not today!" A few women gasp in the presence of him nearly running them over. He backs up, and begins to drive the car backwards.

Dipper: "Grunkle Stan, what's going on?" Dipper asked, confusing at Stan's behavior.

Stan: "We gotta get outta here... Before it's too late!" Stan said before realizing that his car his trapped between a group of covered wagons. "They've circled the wagons! We're trapped! NOOOOOOOOO!!"

Mabel Looks outside her window and sees a cow.

Mabel: "I've got a good feeling about today." She said while a smile as the cow mooed.

The kids and Stan get out of the car and walk around an old fashioned-looking Main Street.

Dipper: "Man, look at the town." He holds a postcard up for a second. When he lowers it, the town is a sepia shade due to a pane of dirty glass.

Worker: "Dirty glass. We got dirty glass! Dirty glass." The worker said as he and his coworker were holding up said dirty glass.

Hope: "It kinda reminds me a bit of home..." Hope said as looked around.

Stan: "Ah, boy. It's Pioneer Day. Every year these yahoos dress up like idiots to celebrate the day Gravity Falls was founded." Stan said annoyed.bToby Determined then approaches Stan acting as a paperboy.

Toby: "Welcome to 1863!" Annoyed Stan pulls up his left sleeve as he glares at Toby.

Stan: "I will break you, little man!" Stan threatened, causing Toby to flee.

Toby: "Ahh!" As he runs away he crashes into a barrel.

As group looks through the busy streets people could be seen doing various activities, such as candle dipping.

Mabel: "Wow! Look! Candle dipping!" She said excitedly

Dipper: "Whoa, gold panning!"Dipper said as they passed people doing gold panning.

McGucket: "Gold!" Said Old Man McGucket, who is also gold panning.

Priest: "I now pronounce you man and wife." The priest said to a man and woodpecker. Woodpecker pecks her husband's hand.

Woodpecker guy: "I do!" The man said excitedly. Mabel along side Hope looked on confused.

Hope: "I- what??" Hope just looked on baffled.

Mabel: "What chu talking 'bout?" Mabel said, confused.

Y/n "At this point this really doesn't surprise me anymore..." Y/n said, with a deadpan look.

Dipper: "Oh yeah. I remember this." He said as he takes out Journal 3. "In Gravity Falls it used to be legal to marry woodpeckers."

Woodpecker guy: "Oh, it's still legal." He said as he puts a hand on his shoulder, where the woodpecker is perched. "Very legal."
