"It's been years, Doctor." I told him, crossing my arms.
"Sorry for that." He said, looking at the ground.
Something about him seemed - different. He was no longer the energetic, young doctor I remember; he now appeared much older and tired, as if he was dying.
"You look different than I remember." I told him.
"That's why I came to you. Listen, May, this may be a bit difficult for you to comprehend. She's dying."
"Who's 'she'?" I asked.
He pointed to the blue box.
"You mean that blue box is dying? Um, I don't know if you realize, but it's a box. A box that isn't alive."
"May, she's more than just a box. I need your help fixing it, or else it'll break forever, killing me in the process."
I hesitated a moment. "How exactly did you damage it?"
"If by 'it' you mean her, it's complicated. A woman I knew, by the name of Clara, well, after her death, I wasn't the same. Neither was the TARDIS. The TARDIS consumed too much energy from the Lectros that when I tried to get to you as an eight year old, she broke down."
"Wait, so that wasn't a dream?" I asked.
"It was not. You and a friend were playing outside. Your friend grew curious and decided to look through the forest. A bit hesitant, you decided to follow, but quickly fell behind. You were lost in the woods, when I found you. I needed your help, yet you for some reason, passed out. I brought you to your bed, deciding that you were too young to help."
"So you've spent the passed twenty years here, waiting?"
"You didn't let me finish, May. The TARDIS had enough juice to make one more trip, and I decided to forward twenty years into the future."
"Okay, but why me?" I asked. "7 billion other people in the world, yet for some reason you chose me. Why is that?"
He pointed to my mother's casket, which was barely visible from the distance we were at.
"Your mother. She knew me, very closely. Her name was Clara, right? Clara Oswin Oswald?"
"Well, until she married my father. She was Clara Williams." I told him.
"Clara Oswald was a great woman. Her and I knew each other for many years. Her wits and intelligence is the reason I'm still alive today. Without her, I would be dead. And that's why I came to you. I was hoping that the intelligence runs in the family, and that you could maybe help me."
My mom knew the Doctor?! No wonder she always told me stories about her and a madman with a box! I should've known she was talking about him!
"I can't believe my mother knew you! And my father?"
He shook his head. "We tried our best to keep it a secret. He still doesn't know about me, and Clara told him it was just her dreams."
"Well, Doctor. Consider me your new companion."
