Arnold's P.O.V.
Where's Helga going? She should be staying at her apartment with Rhonda. What more could she want?
"Helga! Wait!" I said, trying to catch my breath. She runs so fast.
"What do you want, Football Head? I'm just trying to get some time to myself, okay? So can you just please leave me alone!?" Helga yelled, not even bothering to look at me.
"Helga, just please tell me why you insist on avoiding me." I gripped on her shoulders and spun her around to face me.
"Just tell me, and I'll leave you alone." I looked deep into her Diamond Blue eyes. All I could see is confusion and fear, and it really hurt me to see her like this. This was definetely worse than seeing her last night; so drunk and vulnerable.
"Fine, Arnold." I heard her mutter.
Helga's P.O.V.
"I'll tell you." I replied, staring back into his Emerald Green Eyes.
"I just need time alone to myself because I just feel so lost and vulnerable right now. I don't know really what's going to happen between Wolfgang and I, and I don't really know what's going on between us.
Like, last night has been getting me thinking a lot. I feel like we can't just be working together if you just tell me stuff like you love me. I'm just not sure of anything anymore. I feel like a mess. When Bob comes back, he won't be the only one knowing. Martinez will find out that we were lying, we'll be in trouble, and end up fired." I tear my watering eyes away from Arnold. "And it will all be my fault. I just screw everything up."
"It's not your fault and you don't screw things up." Arnold debated.
"What do you mean!? Can't you see that I just practically ruined our lives from this point forward and there's absolutely NOTHING we can do about it!?" I yelled, throwing my hands up in the air.
Arnold chuckled as he hugged me and whispered in my ear. "You've been messing with my life since day one and you just start to notice this now?"
"This is not funny, Arnoldo!" I replied as I playfully pushed him away.
"Look, Helga, things may look all messed up now, but there's always a bright side to things. And there's definetly going to be a bright side to this, just stay optimistic and this will all work out." Arnold embraces me again and this time, I returned the favor. How could there be such an amazing person as him dealing with stuff like this? He never deserved it. I just couldn't believe he could even handle putting up with me ever since we first met. Sure, Phoebe understands me and she can put up with the stupid stuff I do, but I could tell that Arnold has been through much worse.
"Now come one, Hammer Head. Let's go get you some ice cream." Arnold says, holds my hand while winking at me and he earns a chuckle in response.
In the Ice Cream Parlour
"Well, if it isn't my favourite couple?" A man greeted us when we walked in. Have I met him before?
"Stinky! It's nice to see you again!" Arnold replied.
"Well, at least someone remembers me. But I've got to give your girlfriend some slack, on account of her being drunk for the first time we've met." The man who appears to be called 'Stinky' said, looking at me. Wait. Did he say I was DRUNK when we first met!?
But I just chuckle, feeling heat rise up to my cheeks. "Um, yeah. Sorry about that. But I'm not Arnold's girlfriend, I'm just his temporary boss."
"Really?" Stinky asked in response, while his eyes widened. "You guys have really got me going on there, on account of you guys are holding hands."
Then I stared down and noticed we were still holding hands. Wow... Our hands seemed like they fit just right; like peanut butter and jelly. Our fingers were interwined. I stared back at Arnold and let go of his hand.
"Well, you two lovebirds can order when you're ready, m'kay?" Stinky said as he winked at both of us and left, leaving Arnold and I alone at the counter.
"Um, well, that was awkward." I mentioned, still avoiding Arnold's stare. His just chuckle eroded into a cough.
"So... Lovebirds, are you ready yet?" Stinky came up to us and asked.
"Sure. I'll have a extra large triple chocolate shake, two cherries, no funny stuff." I recited.
"Wow that's an awful lot of an order for a woman like you. Are you sure you two ain't sharing?" Stinky asked as he smirked with sly eyes.
"Just make that two, Stinky. I'm paying." Arnold said, obviously unamused.
"Come on, Arnoldo! At least let me pay half." I felt guilty making him pay.
"No, it's okay Helga. It's my treat anyways." Arnold insisted.
"Don't be stubborn, Football Head, just let me pay."
"I'm not being stubborn, I'm being generous."
"Just let me pay. Remember the last time you wanted to pay for something you couldn't afford?" I snapped back at him.
"Fine." Arnold replied, pouting. "But you're gonna pay for the whole thing." His frown turning into a smirk once again.
"What!?" I exclaimed, realising what I've just done. "I only said I was going to pay HALF."
"Well, if you weren't so stubborn, Helga-"
"Here's your drinks, guys." Stinky said. "I'll leave the check when I come back."
"Well, if I'm paying, I guess I'll just be taking both our drinks." I grabbed Arnold's drink out of his hands and sipped from his straw, not caring if he already drank from it.
"Hey!" Arnold said, unamused, and took my drink.
As I almost finished drinking, I noticed Arnold was only halfway done. so I took the straw from my drink, poked it into the other and drank from the one that was supposed to be mine.
"Why do you always have to have things your way, don't you?" Arnold smirked.
"You didn't realise that yet? Football Head, you're so slow!" I half whined.
"Whatever you say, Helga."
