Mother was right. I needed to tell Keya I loved her. Of course, she's been rushing me to do so, but my mother has her ways, and I trust her.

Keya is the only person, other than my mother, that could keep me from going down a path I might regret.

Keya wanted to be left alone, and it's been a few days. That should be enough time, right? I grabbed a circlet I crafted for her and walked to the stables. Bjaldgor and Aydin were looking over some papers on a table.

"Can we help you, Prince Loki?" Bjaldgor asked.

"Where is Keya?" The moment I mentioned her name, their eyes fell, and I regretted coming. "What's wrong with her?"

"We don't know. She left a few days ago, leaving us with ownership of the stables."

"What?!"

"I'm sorry, Prince Loki. We have no idea where she went or why." I turned and made my way back to the castle.

"Mother!" I knocked urgently on her chamber door. She opened it and I walked in.

"What is it, Loki?"

"Where is Keya?" her face fell like she knew I was going to ask that.

"Sit down, child."

"No, tell me what happened." she sighed, a pained look on her face as she searched for words.

"She left a few days ago because she became overwhelmed. I tried to stop her, but she was convinced that you didn't love her."

"But I do love her!" My voice began to break.

"She had no idea. I'm sorry, Loki, but she's gone, and only Heimdal knows where she went, and he will not say where. I've already tried." My hands clenched into fists.

"Then I will find her, and I will not rest until I do!" I began to walk off, but she stopped me.

"She left for a reason, Loki. Give her time, she will return." I took a cleansing breath and unclenched my fists.

"You're right. She'll come back. She'll come back..." I trail off as I left for my room. I slammed the door and collapsed onto my bed and stared at the ceiling. "She'll come back. If she loves me, she'll come back..."
