Waiting for the Sunrise

Chapter 10

Mason POV

Monday finally came around, which marked the start of spring break, and for Tori and I it was the beginning of our trip to Corpus Christi which we had planned when we started at Baylor. We left that Sunday night and arrived late at our hotel which overlooked the beach. The next morning we went down to the bay and decided to walk around for the day to see what the area had to offer. The sky was the most vibrant of blues with little streaks of thin white clouds scattered across it. As we continued along the walkway overlooking the beach I caught myself staring at Tori. She was wearing a royal blue colored shirt with her well known kaki pants Along with some tan colored sperries. She was also sporting some Oakly aviator sunglasses which I have never seen her wear till now. Her head was held high and she looked relaxed and happy as ever admiring the scenery. "What?" she asked me smiling;catching me staring at her.
She punched me hard on the arm while laughing, " tell me , or I'll hit even harder"
"Ok" I said trying to avoid another blow.
" I was going to say that you look amazing today."
" You have seen me wear this outfit all the time at school" she said laughing still.
" well today you really stand out to me." I said with a smile, and I mean that Tori."

We stared at each other for about a few seconds then she turned away still smiling, then stared back at me. " I'm hungry now, you know of any places around here?" She said with a tired tone.
" yeah I might know one actually"
We both walked about a half mile down the bay until we came to a strange looking 2 story building with seagulls flocking around it; and at the top was a big orange W. We went inside and I placed 2 orders for the both of us received 2 burgers 3 minutes later. " so you said this is Whataburger, and apparently it's better than Grandma's cafe you said, there's no way Mason." I looked at her and motioned for her just to take a bite," oh my god Mason..........this is amazing" I started to laugh as I watched her take bite after bite u till she was finished right before my eyes.
" where did you learn about this place?" She asked. " I uh........... Came here with someone a while back" I said almost reluctantly. " well we gonna have to come back here again for sure Mason" she said with the biggest smile on her face.

Time passed quickly and after we are we decided to go down to the beach and sit awhile. The sun was just going down into the horizon and marvelous arrays of gold, orange and red were painted across the sky. " isn't the sunset the most beautiful thing you've ever seen;" she said as she rested her head on my shoulder. " yeah.........it is" I said in almost a whisper. I saw Tori look at me with with her eyes glaring at mine; her head still resting in my shoulder. The colors of the sky became darker and the sounds of the ocean were crisper. " Mason.......... Will you always be here for me?" She said with a quiet tone.
" you know I am Tori....... And always will be". The sun finally set down on the horizon and only the sound of the ocean could be heard. We sat there for a while; her head resting on my shoulder still. " I'll try to be better" I said to myself. " I promise I'll try to be better for you."
