(Dan's POV)
"C'mon Dan, why don't you just ask her?" Phil asks as I'm sitting in my sofa crease contemplating the pros and cons of asking Aria out on a date. And I mean a date, like an official one.
"Because I don't know if she'd want to go on an official one. I mean I don't know how she feels about me in that sense and it could make things super awkward."
"Well you're never going to figure that out if you don't ask. You can't just ignore the inevitable and stay friends when you want more."
"But what if she just wants to be friends? It wouldn't be the same if she knew I liked her more than a friend. It could change everything."
"Or she can feel the same way and she's also too nervous to say anything because she has the same doubts as you do right now. The worst thing she can say is no and that she doesn't want anything more than just a friendship."
"No, the worst thing that could happen is she doesn't feel the same way and she gets creeped out and stops talking to me altogether."
"I highly doubt she would do that Dan, don't be so negative about it and take a chance. Everyone knows you like her."
I give him a look of confusion, "What do you mean everyone? I've only told you."
Phil's eyes widen, "Have you not been on the internet?! Some fan took a candid of you two the other day and everyone thinks you're dating. They've started shipping you two and everything. You're an internet cult leader and you don't even know when you're being shipped with someone?!"
"I haven't really been on twitter or tumblr for the past few days so no, I didn't know." My heart drops, "Oh god, what if she's seen it and is now weirded out and never wants to speak to me again?! THIS IS A DISASTER."
"Dan! Calm down! When's the last time you've spoken to her?"
"We texted a bit this morning..."
He glares at me.
"What?! Things can change quickly! I don't know what could have happened between her walk from the coffee shop to work!"
"Stop being so dramatic and get your shit together. She won't stop talking to you just because a picture is going around and your fanbase is writing fanfiction."
My eyes widen, "They're writing fanfiction?!"
"Well that I don't know, I wouldn't be surprised if they started. But can you please just ask her out? I've seen the way you two look at each other and I truly believe she feels the same way as you."
"Are you positive? Or are you just saying that to get me to ask?"
"I'm completely and utterly serious. That day we sat with her, I could tell you two had something."
"What do you mean something?"
"I don't know how to explain it but there was just this feeling I got and I know that must sound weird because I'm not the one pining for her. You have to trust me on this one."
"Just give me some time to think, she's at work anyways."
"You're not going to ask her in person?"
"NO! Okay, I know asking someone over the phone isn't as romantic but I'd rather her only hear me stuttering instead of that AND seeing me shake and sweat. Not being there in person will help if she says no anyways, I can still have some dignity."
"Fine. She won't say no but as long as you ask it doesn't matter how you do it. I'll let you be alone with your sofa crease and your thoughts. Don't chicken out or else I'll do it for you." he says while leaving the room.
