Story: When she was 10 years old, her dad, Dug Larson, was a soldier who was to be shipped in Iraq. She and her mother stayed at a bomb shelter with other army families. One night, there was a bombing attack on the shelter. Everyone within a 3-mile radius had either blown up or disappeared, with the exception of Amaria. That night, she ran far away. The next morning, the attack was all over the news, even of Amaria's disappearance. A few weeks later, she was found by the O'Brien family. Maya could tell that she would be a great asset in the future. After talking with her husband, she and her family took her to their home in Seattle. A couple of months later, the O'Brien family found out that she couldn't speak at all. Their daughter Avieara, who was 13, tried to bond and get Amaria to communicate with the family. At some point, Amaria trusted Avieara and wrote about what happened. Avieara felt bad and told her parents to keep it a secret. At the end of the year, they found something remarkable about Amaria; she is a great dancer!
