“How the hell did that happen?” Adam shouts falling backwards onto a seat, probably from the shock.
“Easy, lacrosse” I mutter massaging my temples.
“Did the guy who got him have a grudge against him or something?” he asks looking at me confused.
“I don’t even know” I sigh, looking up at the clock it says 5 o’clock on the dot, only another hour.
You see what happened was that Tyler was playing lacrosse and he got knocked out, mum said he came to in the ambulance and couldn’t remember anything, but he kept saying mine and his mother’s names, so she called mum and now I have to wait until 6 to see if he is alright. I mean he is a cheater, but he was my best friend since I was little, so I can’t exactly not see him.
“What time are you allowed to see him?” Adam asks, tuning back around to face me, with a plate with two mini hotdogs on it.
“At six” I sigh “And it’s only 5”
“Only another hour” he says talking a getting up and sitting opposite me, he picks up his own hotdog and starts eating, I just stare at mine for a good couple of minutes not really in the mood for eating.
“Aren’t you going to eat that?” Adam asks. My eyes snap to him and I shrug, before picking it up and taking a bite.
“I'm just really worried” I sigh laying my head on the bench. “I mean I feel like it’s my fault” I say into the bench.
“It is not your fault, how could you think that?” he asks confused, I lift my head a bit to look at him.
“I'm his lucky charm” I mutter before putting my head back on the bench. “In junior year I missed his first game and he broke his arm and was out for half the season. Then in sophomore year I was picking mum up from the airport and I couldn’t make it and he got concussion and fractured his jaw and now this happened. I have a reason to think this is my fault” I stand up and pick up the plate, washing it off and putting it in the dishwasher.
“I'm going to have a shower, I’ll be back down in a while” I say not looking at him, I don’t even know what he thinks of this whole lucky charm thing.
“Just wait” he says quietly, I turn on the spot and look at him, as he walks up to me “I want you to know that, no matter what happened to him, you are in no way responsible” I start to protest but he holds up a hand “I just need to know one thing”
“What?” I ask
“Do you like me, like as more than a friend?” he looks down his ears slightly reddening under his hair.
“Well obviously, I – are you kidding, I put my life in danger for you on that balloon today, and if that doesn’t scream that I like you, then you must be deaf” I snort
“I know, it’s just that I really, really, like you and I'm afraid that when you go and see Tyler that you’ll, I dunno- forget about me or something”
“As if that could happen, today was literally the best day of my life so far and I don’t ever think that I will ever forget about you. So stop being silly and kiss me” I pull him by the front of his shirt and crush my lips to his, he responds immediately, kissing me back with passion and force that I never got with Tyler and it’s amazing. He runs his hands up my back, leaving a trail of fire in their wake, I moan at him and he does it back. He pulls back and smiles.
“This has been one of the most amazing days I’ve had in ages. Thank you” he leans in a kisses me more slowly this time, before telling me to go and take a shower while he gets changed.
