Peeking in the squarespace, there was no window within the room, having only been illuminated with a small emerald green lap. I could only see a very dressed up man, hair slicked back with what seemed to be a graying. His dark eyes darted for me, striding over my tall figure.
"Hello?"
I seemed confused as I fully stepped in, not sure if I was talking to the right person. The man quietly sat there, hand over hand, like he expected me to be silent.
"Sorry, isn't this Jonathan Sims office?"
"No."
"Then who are you?"
"Eilas, Elias Bourchard"
He extended his arm over the desk greeting me in a somewhat professional way. I wasn't too sure if that was the way he wanted to proceed or it was just his character. Taking his firm slightly dry hand I felt that he was eyeing me, but not directly with his eyes. I had the feeling of people surrounding me as I let go, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.
"So, what are you doing here at the Magnus archives mr."
He was so persistent, he seemed like he knew though. His words left like a question but yet he didn't ask in that way.
"Marcus Bourne. My friend, well more like my roommate recommended this, to make a statement?"
Just the sound of those words coming out of my mouth made me feel stupid. It was just a research facility it wasn't like I could just state my problems here when it was clearly not a building for that.
I then slowly grabbed the business card that I had in my pants pocket and handed it to him.
He studied it then, bringing the card close to his face then bringing the card closer to his eyes.
"Well you're looking for the right person, just the wrong room"
He then slowly handed the card back before going back to study me.
"Yeah kinda figured."
Feeling the redness go to my face, I could only be embarrassed by the fact that I had the wrong room. I was expecting a word out of his mouth but he only gave me a blank stare as he sat in that office chair.
"Well, you really shouldn't be here."
"I'm sorry?"
"Get out, third door on the right."
"I-Thanks, I guess.."
I creaked the door open, only looking back at him, Walking down the hall I was confused on what Elias had meant. With the door being down on the right his door was the only one there. Maybe there were more doors down ahead?
Walking farther down I could see many people within the hallways. As I tried asking for some directions, no one had stopped in their tracks to even listen. as I went further, I could see a sweet looking man coming out of one of the other rooms on the left. His smile could be seen from where I stood then slowly faded as he walked towards me. I tried to not get sidetracked, and looked for a map.
"Excuse me!"
I looked to one of the doors that said office clearly not hearing his words.
"Is this the right door?"
I talked to myself looking down to the card then at the door.
"Excuse me." With a calmed pace he slowly crept toward me. He was wearing a very oversized sweater, having golden ginger hair.
"You're not supposed to be in this area."
"Sorry." I looked at the card and continued my search.
"Uh?"
Giving me a confused look as I mildly went over what he had said.
"So you have to leave this area."
"Do- do you know where Mr.Sims office is?"
"Yeah? Just came from- wait who do you work for?"
Confused on what he meant I gave him a look, I didn't work? Maybe he was just a jumpy person?
"I don't work, I'm unemployed."
"Mm." He Shook his head, being confused his eyes going back to me "i-it's just that third door on the left, can't miss it."
"Thank you."
He walked off in slow strides and I continued on. Counting the doors I approached the third one having a sign saying "Jonathan Sims" stupid, It had said his name right in the door! So how could I have missed it? taking a heavy breath I calmly knock.
"Oh- um come in."
the person had said muffled behind the door, The door creaked as I went to open it, his face was distraught. He clearly wasn't expecting me.
His appearance looked pretty formal, wearing a light green button up over it and a brown sweater vest having small gold accents on the folds of the collar of the shirt.
"Sorry, aren't you Jonathan sims?"
"Yes?"
"I was recommended?"
I held out the business card, had him give a Quick Look at it, had him immediately know, at least in this instance and brought out an old looking tape recorder.
"It's not a worry lots of people come by."
Placing a tape into the small recorder he slowly closed the cartridge containing it.
"Um, do you mind before we?"
"Oh, not at all."
"It's just I have to record the statement, it's business policy."
"No, go right ahead."
He then gave a big breath before setting the mood. looking at me he pressed play on the small dust filled thing.
