The next time Gabby woke up it was morning and Larry and Laurent were both in the other room glued to the TV.

The news was on with a big red banner running across the bottom of the screen that read “Fan fou de Les Twins tombe à sa mort” (Psycho Les Twins’ Fan Falls to Her Death).

Laurent glanced up when Gabby came in. He was munching on some cookies.

Gabby covered her mouth with her hand in astonishment. “What happened?”

“I tell you later.”

Aswan bounded out from underneath a chair. She picked him up and looked questioningly at Larry.

Larry simply smirked as Laurent passed him a cookie, neither of them seeming particularly bothered by Sasha’s demise.

Gabby flipped through some police photos lying on the table of the inside of Sasha’s apartment.

Every available square inch of wall space was plastered with pictures of Larry along with pieces of his clothing and jewelry that she’d stolen.

Laurent took one of the photos from Gabby and swatted Larry on the back of the head with it.

“See, I told you I didn’t take your stupid stuff.”

“Shut up, Lau!” Larry kicked him in the leg. Things were already getting back to normal.

On the television they were showing shots of the S.W.A.T. team toting Sasha away in a body bag.

Larry and Gabby looked at each other.

“I can’t believe you hire that crazy girl.”

“I can’t believe you slept with her.”

Larry opened his mouth and darted his eyes back and forth trying to think of a response, but he couldn’t.

“Anyway, I hope we’re even now.”

He smiled and shook her hand, holding it longer than he had to. “We even.” She squeezed his hand and smiled back.

The twins’ phones started going off as people woke up to the morning news.

Larry was on his phone with their management. Laurent was on his phone with their mother.

“No Mama, we fine. No you don’t need to come down here….I didn’t! It was Larry!…but wait…Mama, no don’t come…Mama? Mama? Hello?”

Gabby sighed and went to call Patrick knowing she had to tell him everything. He was her best friend and she’d been keeping things from him.

She felt a lump in her throat as the call connected.

Now she completely understood why people always said never to mix business with pleasure.
