Larry took one look at Sasha in his clothes and flew into a rage.
“I told you to stay away from me you crazy bitch!”
He’d dumped her four days ago, the night she showed up at the Gaultier party uninvited. Since then she’d been calling him and coming by his house nonstop.
“You don’t mean that, Larry. All I want to do is be with you!” She sagged against the door frame pleading with him.
His voice was cold and hardened. He spat out the words, “You nothing to me.”
Something changed in Sasha’s eyes when he said that. A total calm came over her as desperation gave way to pure, unadulterated fury.
She stood up straight and stepped all the way into the room revealing the gun in her hand, waiving it back and forth between the two of them.
Larry didn’t move. Gabby stumbled back against the desk. Her cell phone rang, but she didn’t dare try to answer it.
“Sasha, please, put the gun down. You don’t wanna do this.”
“Shut up, bitch!” Sasha trained the gun on her. “This is all your fault! YOU told him he wasn’t in love with me. I HEARD YOU! You couldn’t be satisfied until you had both of them, could you?”
Sasha’s voice was a shrill scream. Gabby silently prayed someone was left in the building to hear it and come to their rescue, but nobody came.
Gabby’s cell phone rang again.
“Make it stop!” Sasha yelled and glanced at Larry. “Can’t you see what she was doing, baby? She was trying to come between us.”
The phone stopped ringing on its own. Gabby held her hands out in front of her. “You’re right. I’m so sorry. I should never have said that. It…it was a mistake…right, Larry?”
Larry picked up on her cue. “Yes, yes, it was mistake. I do love you, Sasha.”
“You do?” Sasha turned to him. Her hands trembled on the gun as she began to cry.
“Yes, I do. We can be together.”
“You’re just saying that.”
“No, I really mean it.” He smiled and touched his chest. “We can go away somewhere…um…anywhere you want.”
Sasha lowered the gun a little considering what he was saying. Tears flowed down her face. Gabby slowly inched one hand in the direction of her cell phone.
In a flash Larry lunged at Sasha latching on to the hand with the gun in it. She instinctively fell backwards away from him. The force of their motion sent them both crashing into the wall. The side of Sasha’s face scraped hard against it. Blood poured from the gash.
They rolled to the ground. Sasha landed on top. The gun went off.
It all happened in a matter of seconds.
Larry lay on his back looking down at himself, a shocked expression frozen on his face.
Sasha struggled up and stumbled out the door leaving the gun and a winding trail of blood in her wake.
Gabby screamed and fell to the floor crawling towards Larry.
In her mind it seemed like everything was moving in slow motion. Larry was a million miles away and she was wading through quicksand trying to get to him.
When she finally reached him she pulled open his jacket frantically running her hands over his body.
“Oh God, no, no, please…”
