The days following Amber and Nathan's first Alpha test flowed with peace and laughter. The MoonStone Pack had gathered for the Harvest Festival, an annual celebration honoring the moon goddess for balance, strength, and unity. Bright lanterns hung from the trees, flickering against the night sky. Tables were lined with roasted meats, fruits, and sweet breads made by the pack's cooks. Children ran through the grass, chasing glowing fireflies as musicians played soft tunes on flutes and drums. Amber stood with Nathan near the edge of the clearing, watching her people dance and laugh. Her heart swelled with pride their pack was thriving. "Looks like the festival's a success," Nathan said, wrapping his arm around her waist. Amber smiled. "They deserve this. After everything we've been through, they needed a night of peace." "Even Alphas need that," he teased, brushing a kiss across her temple. As laughter filled the air, Brianna and Jaden came running up, faces flushed from playing. "Amber! Nathan! Come see! Brianna tugged at her sister's hand. "Uncle Elijah says the warriors are having a sparring match!"  Amber laughed. "All right, let's go cheer them on." The pack gathered near the training field as Elijah and Tomas circled each other, muscles tense and eyes bright with challenge. The crowd cheered as they shifted halfway, claws flashing but never striking to wound. It was friendly a show of skill and unity. Amber watched with admiration, but suddenly a tingling ran up her arms. The world seemed to sharpen every heartbeat, every flicker of movement in the trees. She blinked, dizzy. What is this? Nathan noticed her expression. "Amber, what's wrong?" "I-I can feel something," she murmured. Her eyes glowed faintly silver. "Not here miles away. It's faint, but there's pain. An animal maybe hurt. Nathan frowned. "You can feel that from this far?" Amber nodded slowly. "It's coming from the north woods." Without hesitation, they followed the pull. The moonlight guided them until they found a small clearing and there, laying still, was a wounded white fox, its side pierced by a branch. Amber knelt beside it. "Poor thing." Nathan crouched beside her. "Amber, be careful. It's scared." "I just want to help," she whispered. She placed her hand gently on its fur. A warmth spread from her fingertips, soft and golden like moonlight through mist. The fox stirred the wound knitting itself closed right before their eyes. Nathan's eyes widened. "Amber you healed it." Amber blinked, her breath trembling. "I didn't mean to, It just happened." The fox looked up at her with glowing eyes almost knowing before it vanished into the trees, leaving a faint shimmer in its wake. Amber sat back, stunned. "Nathan, what's happening to me?" He brushed his thumb along her cheek. "Something powerful but good. You're growing stronger." Before they could speak further, a distant howl echoed not one of their own. It carried a strange, dark energy that made the air feel heavy. Amber stiffened. "That presence I felt it earlier too." Nathan's jaw tightened. "Rogues?" "Maybe," she said quietly, glancing at the moon. "Or something worse." Back at the village, the festival lights still glowed bright, laughter continuing through the night. No one yet knew that this peaceful evening would mark the beginning of a new awakening one that would test every bond and every power they had. Amber took Nathan's hand. "Whatever's coming, we face it together." "Always," he promised. And as they walked back beneath the silver moon, Amber felt her heart pulsing in time with something ancient and eternal the whisper of the Moon's Gift within her, waiting to fully awaken. Amber lay awake that night, staring at the ceiling of their small shared cabin. The room mate was quiet except for the soft breathing of her mate beside her. But her mind was racing. Every time she closed her eyes, she could feel that whisper again like the moon itself was calling her name. She slipped out of bed, barefoot, and stepped outside. The cool night air brushed her skin, and the forest shimmered under the moonlight. She stood still, feeling the rhythm of nature the flow of life all around her. When she closed her eyes, she could hear the soft flutter of wings, the slow heartbeat of animals testing, even the water flowing miles away. She wasn't just hearing she was connected. "Moon goddess," she whispered, "is this your gift? Why now?" The wind stirred the leaves, almost answering her. A faint silvery mist coiled around her feet, warm and gentle. She felt peace not fear. Whatever this power was, it was hers. Behind her, Nathan's sleepy voice broke the silence. "Couldn't sleep either?" Amber turned, smiling softly. "It's like the moon is awake inside me." He came closer, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. "Then let her shine. You've earned a little magic after everything." Amber leaned into him, eyes glowing faintly. "I think this is just the beginning." Nathan chuckled quietly. "If this is what the beginning looks like, I can't wait to see the rest.'' The two stood together under the pale light, the forest alive around them. Somewhere deep in the woods, an owl called out, and the air shimmered faintly a promise of power, of balance, and of destiny. For tonight, there was no danger. No war. No fear. Only peace, love, and the growing bond between a white wolf blessed by the moon and her loyal mate. Amber closed her eyes again, feeling her heartbeat steady and strong. The warmth in her chest spread outward, filling her veins with light. She could sense every heartbeat of her pack, every spark of life in their territory. She smiled. "They're safe. All of them." Nathan brushed her hair back. "Because of you." Amber looked at the moon one last time, whispering softly, "Thank you, Mother Moon. I won't let this gift go to waste." And with that promise in her heart, she returned to bed with Nathan the moonlight wrapping around them like a quiet blessing.
