Amber woke just before dawn, her heart racing for no clear reason.

The room was quiet, the steady sound of Nathan's breathing beside her the only proof that everything was normal. And yet-something felt wrong. Not immediate danger. Not fear. Something watching. She slowly sat up, placing a hand over her stomach. The twins were calm, their presence steady, grounding her. "I know," she whispered softly. "I feel it too." Nathan stirred. "Amber?" She exhaled slowly. "Something's shifting. I can't explain it-but it's at the edges. Like pressure." Nathan sat up fully now, alert. "I'll tell my father." By midmorning, the leaders of the allied packs were already moving-not openly, not loudly. This wasn't a threat meant to be announced. It was one meant to be anticipated. John stood in his office on Red pack land, the walls lined with old maps and territory markers. He pressed a small remote in his hand, activating a screen hidden behind a panel. Multiple camera feeds flickered to life. Forest paths. Border crossings. Old routes rarely used anymore. "I placed these years ago," Jogn said calmly. "Hidden cameras and microphones. Some on our land. Some just beyond it." Nathan's father, Alpha Ray, nodded. "Smart." "We'll know who moves before they ever reach us," john continued. "And who talks when they think no one is listening." Miles away Alpha Ray closed his eyes, his voice carrying through the Royal pack mindlink. Christian. Beta Christian answered instantly. I'm here. Increase border patrols. Silent rotations. No visible changes, Ray ordered. Set up additional listening posts. I want eyes and ears everywhere. Understood, Christiam replied. I'll handle it personally. Ray opened his eyes. "It's done." Nathan glanced at Amber. "They won't get close without us knowing." Amber nodded, though the unease hadn't faded. "This isn't just one pack moving," she said quietly. "It feels... layered." Across territories, the packs began reinforcing bonds that had been forged long ago. Moon pack Alpha Mark coordinated patrol timing with Beta Elijah, syncing movements with Red pack routes. Night pack Alpha Noah quietly doubled night sentries while Beta Oliver monitored border intel. River pack Alpha Liam stationed scouts near water crossings, with Beta Benjamin overseeing communications. Sun pack Alpha Lucas sent word to Beta Kairo to monitor southern routes and report anything unusual. Blue pack Selena's pack increased internal security, protecting Amber's bloodline without question. No announcements. No gatherings Just trust. Late that night, one of John's monitors flickered. A voice crackled softly through a hidden microphone-low, unfamiliar, distorted by distance. "...the children won't be born for months... we have time..." John's jae tightened. Nathan's father stepped closer, listening carefully. Amber felt it immediately-a sharp tug in her chest, her instincts flaring. "That," she whispered, "is what I felt." Nathan moved in front of her without thinking. "They're talking," John said grimly. "And they don't know we're listening." Rose entered quietly, Bella at her side. One look at Amber and Rose understood. "Nothing reaches her," Rose said firmly. "Nothing reaches the twins." Amber steadied herself, drawing a slow breath, grounding her power the way the god witches had taught her. "They're planning," she said. "But they're not ready." Nathan squeezed her hand. "And neither are we." John turned off the screen. "For now, we wait. We listen. And we prepare." Outside, the moon rose high over Red pack land-silent, watchful. The war had not begun. But the shadows were moving. And this time- They were being watched back.
