An Apple a Day keeps the Paper Away

An apple sits on the table before them, a nice fresh green one among some other fruits, but the apple was all that was to focus for the toony fellow standing not far from it, he has yet to try an apple, he was always curious of their taste, but he couldn't recall there having been an apple yesterday, It just suddenly was here, till it seems someone a little mug caught sight of the toon in their dark gold suspenders staring in curiosity at the apple resting on the table. "Oh! Hey Beits! What's got you so confused?" The mug asked, causing the toon known as Beits to look over. "Oh just couldn't recall there being an apple here, in fact these other fruits too" Beits explained while the mug smiled upon hearing that. "Oh! Well I just did some shopping recently and got us some extra snacks! If you want to have one go ahead!" The mug offered which Beits smiled. He picked up the green apple and studied it for a moment, studying how it shines in the light and how it sure did look juicy, which only made Beits a bit more hungry looking at it. "Welp! Down the hatch" he goes to take a bite but then suddenly there was a crash sound from upstairs heard stopping him from doing so.

"What was that??" The mug asked, causing Beits to go look to where it was heard, seeming from back up in the attic, which as he walked he tried to take another bite but there was once again another crash, which only made Beits hurry along to check and upon getting up into the attic... Nothing. Well, it looked like some things fell but, those aren't much for concern, odd truly, but the cost is clear. "Must've been a bit breezy in here" Beits spoke up, going to again try to take a bite of the apple only to fail once again when something nearly came crashing down on him using his powers to hold it in place so it wouldn't fall on him. This is getting strange now, it's quite sparking a curiosity. He studied the apple once again once he got what tried to fall on him back up, studied around then went to try and take another bite only for the apple to roll off his hand but he quickly caught it with the other. "Ohh, playing the tough game aren't we?? Alright, I accept a challenge!" Beits then held the apple in place with both hands so it wouldn't go anywhere and tried to take a bite before being startled by the sudden "Is everything okay??" making him nearly drop the apple but caught it again when it nearly hit the ground, making Beits look up to see the mug again. "...did I disturb someth-" "OH NO NO- Not at all! The cost is clear up here, justttt appley- I mean peachy." Beits interrupted the mug who was confused about which the mug smiled knowing it's all good.

"Alright! Well, let me know if you need anything else! If you want I could get some caramel to go with it!" The mug offered but Beits shook his head. "Oh no, no worries! I'm good with what I got here" Beits answered, quickly fixing his position and dusting the apple off in case anything got onto it. "Okay! Well I'm not far!" The mug answered before then heading on back down leaving it to be just Beits and this mischievous green apple. "Alright, alright, I see what we're doing here." Beits then walked along the attic studying the apple before then placing it on one of the boxes up there to study it. "So it's a challenge eh?? A paper versus the apple to see who gets to eat the other- well actually don't eat paper- BUT A CHALLENGE to see if the paper can get a bite of the apple. Okay, okay I accept." Beits walked around as he talked on studying the apple before then quickly knocking down a radio out from one the boxes and getting it turned on to start playing some music to match this competition that's starting sounding like some song from a popular performer Beits knows, before then focusing on the apple.

"So let the games begin, shall it?" Beits spoke up before then quickly jumping at the apple seeing it roll off but Beits quickly caught it before it hit the ground. Beits then tries to take a bite but dodges a bunch of boxes that fell, spilling out mechanical parts which Beits quickly cleaned up knowing his friend may use those later. Beits then tries again to take a bite only to nearly drop it when a fish tank nearly fell down onto him which would've been a bad situation if that hit either him or the apple. He then tries again only for a spider to drop down in front of them making Beits toss the apple into the air to dodge the spider leaving it be before climbing several boxes to catch it again, attempting to take a bite but yet the boxes fell landing him and the apple into boxes with stuffed animals of what looked of mostly cats and horses. Beits quickly got back up trying again but noticed the spare flower pots nearly fell causing Beits to quickly catch those before once again trying again only for a computer mouse to fall on his head making him once again nearly drop the apple but caught it once again, just laying on the ground taking a second while holding this mischievous apple that's being surely difficult here. "I should've just taken the caramel now huh?" Beits spoke up, staring at the apple and its greeny glory before standing up and trying to take a bite again only to narrowly dodge a bat that flew by, seeming it must've got through the window which means Beits would have to handle getting the bat out from here after he wins this competition.

He tries once again only to dodge a bookcase nearly falling but he caught it and brought it right back up holding it up while he tries to take a bite but a book fell on his head which then seeing it drop and its pages scatter, causing Beits to quickly collect those to place back into the book and right back onto the shelf. Beits then stepped away from it trying again dodging a box that fell dropping out what looked like some science related things that Beits can't recall why they even got that probably some teaching thing, before then trying again seeing the apple roll off catching it once again laying on the ground tired out, but tries to take a bite only for a bunch of boxes to fall from above which Beits dodged throwing the apple into the air while he did seeing then a lot of papers spill out dropping around him as he laid there taking a second to breathe watching the papers fall down, dropping, falling and landing to who knows where, like a memory from long ago, a memory that's burned in his mind, just made him stuck watching as they fell before then the apple bonked him in the head and landed onto him causing his focus to go towards the apple now. "You are the strangest thing I have been dealing with yet. Is this funny to you?? Is this some villain and hero chase?? Hm??" Beits stood up while papers fell around as he looked around at them holding the apple then to the window seeing some papers try to slip outside causing him to run over and get them closing the window seeing what looks like it started to rain outside seeing him stare out at it then look to the apple again sitting nearby the window now. "...How is it when it comes to an apple like you I can't even get a single bite? Is this just- something I'm not allowed to? Is there a reason for your silly antics??" Beits held up the apple to study it, before looking around the attic to see it looked quite a bit like a mess went on which means he would surely have to clean it up after but he looked to the apple again, then to the papers on the ground nearby. "...Maybe there is a reason for things. Maybe I am just not bound to eat you and it's- more so like your a positive side for good things to come yeah??" Beits held up the apple, studying it, before just sighing and placing it at the window while looking out, guess he failed the competition for this one, but, he half doesn't mind it.

It felt, it just taught him maybe it's a good thing, for all he knows he could not enjoy the taste or perhaps all those times an apple has shown up or hit him it just means there is a good sign. So if there is one now that he can't even eat, maybe it's to ensure it's clear there is something good to come, who knows when but, maybe soon. Which is strange, he's thinking like this all because of just a green apple, strange, guess the only thing he's won now, is just even more of a positive mindset. So he got up letting the apple sit there before turning around to the mess caused before him. "Welp, Till our competition happens once again appy." He then walked on to start cleaning up the mess that yet went on up here as the apple sat at the window while it rained on outside, leaving nothing but a tender memory of this special rivalry of a paper versus an apple.
