~Joey's POV~
"Joey, stop sulking and come out with us!" Cat pulled at my leg, trying to pull me out of bed. I buried my face further into my pillow. "It's been like ages since you've taken a shower, you stink!" Cat yelled at me.
"Cat, just let me be." I mumbled, pulling the blankets over me.
"Joey, please..." Cat groaned. She sighed, taking a seat at the end of my bed. "I know this is hard. But trust me, if you come out with us, we'll help you forget about that asshole."
"He's not an asshole." I complained, feeling the tears start to brim in my eyes again. Cat sighed and walked out of the room. I rolled over and shut the door. And just as I had though that she had left, Cat and her boyfriend, Logan, came storming into my room. They turned all the lights on.
"Time to get up!" They yelled. Logan picked me up. I fought back, trying to wriggle myself free; but Logan's strong grip held me tight. "We're getting you showered."
"This is abuse!" I yelled. They dragged me into the bathroom. While Logan turned on the shower, Cat started taking my clothes off. "Hey!" I protested.
"Well, if you had just done it yourself!" Cat exclaimed.
"I'll do it, I'll do it!" I said, pushing Cat off.
"You have half an hour. And if you're not ready by then, we'll drag you out just as you are!" Cat said, pointing her finger at me the whole time. Cat and Logan left me to take my shower. As much as I love Cat, she can be demanding. I took my shower and got ready in record time. I sheepishly stepped out to find Cat and Logan sitting on my couch.
"Hey! He's alive." Logan joked. I blushed. Ever since my breakup with Shane a week ago, I've resorted to hiding out in my apartment. It was fine the first day; eating ice cream and watching trashy TV. But as soon as it had sunk in, I fully enclosed myself in my blankets and didn't come out. News got out and one by one, friends came over to try their hand at getting me back out in the world. Unsurprisingly, Cat was the one to finally do the job.
"Let's do this!" Cat grabbed my hand. They pulled me into the short car ride to West Hollywood.
"Where are we going?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me. As soon as I said this, we pulled up to a notorious gay bar. "No, no!" I said, trying to get out of the car. What good was this gonna do?
"Joey, the only way that you're gonna get over Shane is to get back out there." Cat said.
"Cat, no. I'm not even out." I could feel a panic attack coming on. "Please..."
"Logan, why don't you head in, I'll park the car." Cat got in the front seat while Logan went into the bar. Cat parked the car and turned around to face me. She grabbed my hand. "Sweetie, I know how hard this is; this being your first serious relationship with a guy. But you can't let it ruin your future relationships. And I know it's scary because you're not ready to be out publicly. But please just try. We can go in for a bit; and if you really don't feel comfortable, we can go home. You just need to try." Cat's eyes sparkled with hope. I've always envied how positive she can be.
"Okay." I nodded. We got out and walked towards that bar, the pumping bass getting louder as we got closer. When Cat opened the door, the noise was deafening. I hadn't been to a bar - let alone a gay bar - in so long. I could hear the cheers from across the bar as someone chugged a drink. Hot, toned boys danced on the bar in nothing by man thongs. I have to admit, I've missed being free to check hotties out.
"Logan got us drinks." Cat yelled over the noise, pulling me over to Logan at the bar.
"It's a COCK-tail!" Logan laughed! I have to admit, that was so terrible that it was funny. I grabbed the drink and chugged it down. I was already aware that I couldn't do this sober. Feeling dizzy, I had to sit down. A hunk came over and groped Logan's butt; Logan jumping a little. Cat and I burst into laughter.
"Looks like I have to rent out my boyfriend!" Cat joked. Nervously, I took a look around, checking out all the available real estate. "Feel good to look?" Cat broke my concentration. "Why don't you go and talk to someone!" She playfully shoved me.
"I don't know..." I said, my stomach flipping.
Cat stood on her tip toes and scanned the room. "How about the short one over there with the yellow heels?" I turned to find a tiny man in huge heels throwing money at a guy dancing on the bar.
"Nah, too short."
"How about that guy with the huge muscles dancing ON the bar!" Cat laughed. Basically a body builder was doing what looked like the macarana on the bar.
"Ewwh." I cringed. Cat continued to go around the room pointing out guys. And it turned into a game of who could find that weirdest person at the bar. We finally agreed that it was the scrawny guy dressed like a Christian stepdad with a mullet grinding up against the bodybuilder.
By eleven, Logan was already throwing up in the bathroom and Cat was helping him into the car. "I'll be in the car in a few minutes, let me just pay the tab." I figured since they helped me get back out, I'd pay for the expensive tab.
I turned around to leave when I caught a handsome tall man with dark hair and blue-green eyes watching me. When he saw me, he smiled and turned away, his cheeks turning a deep crimson. I could feel my heart picking up speed and my hands getting sweaty.
Cat came back in and found me at the bar. "Logan may have to crash at your place, since you live close by. If that's okay?"
"Yea, that's fine. Why don't you head back. I'll just walk home in a bit." I said, my mind on the hottie that I caught checking me out.
"Okay, are you sure?" Cat asked.
"Yea, feel free to make yourself comfy. Thanks for bringing me here." I smiled.
"My pleasure. Have fun." Cat said, as if she knew what I was meaning. I watched Cat walk out of the bar. I don't know what made me go over and talk to him, but I'm sure glad that I did.
