Just a couple hours later the sun came up. Steven woke up and tried to continue his conversation with Peridot, while getting some breakfast. Garnet was still in the same spot she had always been.

"Oh hey guys!" Steven said, as the other two gems returned from their rooms. They all walked into the kitchen to talk.

"I heard crying last night, what was going on?" Amethyst asked.

"Peridot was talking to Lapis while she was asleep. It made her pretty upset." Steven answered.

"She did?" said Pearl.

"Yeah, I was able to help her calm down though."

"Wait, you talked to her?"

"Yeah! You know, she's not really that-"

"Garnet! I thought you were watching her!"

"I was." Garnet answered. " I wanted to let Steven help her."

"Why does she care so much about Lapis anyways?" One of them asked.

"I think they were pretty close, before all that stuff happened." Steven said. "She seems pretty worried."

"Hopefully that won't interfere with the questions we need to ask."

Steven scurried over to Peridot and sat down next to her.

"Steven, don't go near her."

"It's fine, she didn't hurt me last night! She can't do anything!"

Steven was munching on a bag of chips. He held one up to Peridots head and started laughing.

"What's so funny?" She said sharply.

"Your head." He said giggling. "It looks like a chip."

"A computer chip?"

"No! The chip that you eat!"

"You guys eat computer chips?" She said slightly disgusted.

"No!"

Steven was trying his best not to laugh at her. While Peridot just looked at him confused.

"We need to go." Garnet stated.

"Go where, why?" Pearl questioned.

"Mask island. Corrupt gem again." She said.

"How does she know?" Peridot quietly asked Steven.

"Oh, Garnet has future vision!" He answered.

The four of them ran over to the warp pad. "You're coming too, I don't trust leaving you alone here."

Peridot followed. After a few hours of following them around through the hot jungle, they found what they were looking for.

Peridot quietly sat back and watched as they fought the monster. She couldn't really do anything to help, nor did she really want to.

"This happens a lot you know." Steven said. "We have to make sure these things aren't roaming around and hurting people you know?"

Peridot wasn't really listening.

Steven sat down on the edge of the tall ledge they were standing on.

"And sometimes we- Woah!" The ledge started to crumble right where he was sitting and fell apart.

"Steven!" Peridot quickly caught his arms and pulled him up.

Steven gasped and his eyes lit up.

"Oh no."

"You saved me!"

"Don't say it."

"See, I knew you weren't so bad!" He said excitedly.

"Shut up you clod!" She said angrily.

"You've changed now and-"

"I haven't changed at all!"

"If you haven't changed then why did you save me?"

The gems came back, apparently they were done.

"Steven, I saw you fall! Are you okay?" Pearl said hugging him.

"I-I'm fine! Peridot saved m-"

"You made him fall didn't you?"

"N-No I-"

"She didn't! She's not that terrible!"

"Enough!"

When they warped back home Steven was still teasing her about it.
