( OLIVIA RODRIGO X FEMALE READER )
2nd Person POV:
You don't know what's more chaotic: the smoke alarm blaring for the third time or Olivia Rodrigo standing in the middle of your kitchen, holding a tray of what used to be sugar cookies and yelling, "IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A BAT, Y/N! NOT... WHATEVER THIS IS!"
You double over laughing, tears forming at the corners of your eyes. "Liv, those aren't bats! Those are-" You tilt your head. "Confused seagulls."
Olivia gasps dramatically, dropping the spatula. "Excuse me, they're abstract bats. You just don't understand my artistic vision."
"They're abstract all right." You tease, pulling open the window to let out the faint smell of burnt sugar. "If your artistic vision involves fire alarms and charcoal dough, then yeah, nailed it."
She sticks her tongue out at you, her dark hair tied up in a messy bun with a pumpkin-patterned scrunchie. "You're mean." She mutters, but she's grinning, so you know she's not serious.
You take the next tray out of the oven, the batch you decorated and the difference is obvious. Perfect orange pumpkins, smiling ghosts, and black cats, all lined up neatly on parchment paper. Olivia stares at them, jaw dropping.
"Okay. Show off."
You smirk. "I just followed the recipe."
"Following recipes is boring." She says, stealing one of your pumpkin cookies. "You gotta add chaos. That's how you make life interesting."
"And that's also how you make smoke." You point out.
She bumps her hip into yours. "Whatever. They taste good. See?"
You roll your eyes, but when she offers you a bite, you lean forward anyway, catching the edge of the cookie and brushing her fingers. She freezes, just for a second, then looks up at you with that half-smile that always makes your stomach do the same weird gymnastics routine.
"See?" She repeats, quieter this time.
"Yeah." You say softly. "Sweet like October."
Her grin returns in full force. "That was smooth. You've been practicing your flirty lines?"
"Only for you." You shoot back, and she actually blushes, mumbling something about turning on music before you make her combust.
The next hour turns into a cozy blur of laughter, frosting fights, and Halloween songs blasting through the apartment. Olivia has "Monster Mash" on repeat just to annoy you, and you retaliate by playing "Thriller" and trying to moonwalk in fuzzy socks. She nearly falls over laughing when you almost crash into the counter.
By the time the cookies are done and cooling, your kitchen looks like a pastel pumpkin crime scene. Orange frosting smears your cheek, and Olivia's got black icing across her nose like some kind of rockstar raccoon.
"Okay." You say, hands on hips. "We should probably start getting ready for the party before we look like actual monsters."
She nods, but she's already scrolling through her playlist. "After one more song. Please?"
You give in instantly because it's Olivia and soon she's pulling you into a spontaneous dance to "Somebody's Watching Me." You spin, she laughs, and it's one of those moments that feels so alive it should be bottled.
Eventually, you drag each other to your bedroom, where your Halloween costumes hang neatly: Olivia's a vampire, obviously, with dramatic red lipstick and a velvet choker, while you're going as a witch, complete with a black lace dress and a floppy hat.
She finishes her makeup first and perches on your vanity, watching you apply eyeliner. "You look dangerously good." She says, pretending to bite her fake fangs. "I might have to bite you at the party."
You roll your eyes. "You're the least intimidating vampire I've ever seen."
"Oh yeah?" She hops off the vanity, steps close enough that you can smell her vanilla perfume mixed with frosting and a hint of sugar. "I can be scary."
You raise an eyebrow. "Prove it."
She narrows her eyes, leans in slowly... then bites your shoulder with the gentlest little nip imaginable. "Rawr." She whispers.
You burst out laughing. "That was terrifying, Liv. Truly. I might faint."
"Good." She says, proud of herself. "Means I'm in character."
You both end up sitting cross-legged on your bed, surrounded by open makeup palettes and scattered costume accessories. She's still trying to glue her fake vampire nails on, complaining every thirty seconds.
"Why won't these stay on?" She groans.
"Because you bought the cheapest kind at the dollar store."
"Because I'm resourceful!" She argues, one nail flying off mid-sentence and landing in your lap. You hand it back with a straight face, and she loses it laughing again.
By the time you finally head out, the moon is high and the air has that crisp, cold bite that feels perfectly Halloween. Olivia grabs your hand as you walk down the steps, swinging it playfully.
"Hey." She says, looking over at you, eyes bright. "Thanks for spending the day with me. I know you could've gone with anyone to this party."
You bump her shoulder. "Of course I'd spend it with you. You're my favorite vampire."
She beams, a little bashful, and squeezes your hand tighter. "You're my favorite witch. Even if you're a show-off baker."
"Even if you're a chaotic baker." You tease.
She gasps. "Excuse me, I am an artist."
"An artist of destruction." You clarify.
She grins, baring her fake fangs. "Guess that makes us the perfect Halloween duo."
And as the two of you walk toward the glowing porch lights ahead, frosting-stained fingers intertwined, laughter echoing down the street, you can't help thinking that yeah... it really does.
