Ding dong! So many people came to the door after I was selected. Family members were wishing me their best and half of them I had no clue who they were. I was wearing a white sweater and black leggings because all the selected were supposed to wear a white top and black bottoms when they went to the palace. That afternoon, I was leaving Sumner and going to Angeles to live in the palace for as long as Prince Aidan wanted me to stay.
Raquel and Grace were at the door. I made up with Raquel and my life felt like a dream. I was ready with my boots on when they came. We were heading to the creek for the last time. It's not like I wouldn't be back, but it would be different.
"We're going to miss you." Grace cried as we sat on the edge of the creek. I scooted closer to her and placed my arms around her shoulders.
"I know." I comforted. "I'll be back soon."
"No, I don't want you to come back, that's the thing." I was flabbergasted. "I want you to go to the palace and blow away Prince Aidan." She started to perk up.
"I'll try, for you guys." I pulled Raquel in and I squeezed them. "I'm going to miss my girls. Now let's go back into town, I need to start packing."
"Don't you mean finish packing?" Raquel corrected.
"No, I haven't started." We giggled as we stood up and headed back.

The whole province met right in front of City Hall to wish me, there representative, good luck. I made my way through the crowd towards the stage. I was supposed to make a speech, but I had nothing prepared even though they told me last week that this was going to happen.
When I got on stage, the mayor of my province introduces me. "Hello," I started. I wasn't good in front of big crowds, but I pictured it as if I was taking a foul shot in basketball and I had to concentrate in front of everyone. "I'm Cassidy Green and I was selected as you all know. I just want to say that it has been an honor living here in Sumner with all these great people that surround me. All of you here have made a difference in my life since I know that you are cheering me on. I feel blessed to be chosen to go to the palace and stay with the royal family. I want to thank all the girls who also signed up for having the courage to do that, because believe it takes guts. I also want to thank my family. Alice Green, Thomas Green, Annabelle Green, Scott Green, Fiona Green, and Rupert our dog. You all have made my life so special and you were the ones who made me the girl I am today. I also want to thank my best friends, Grace and Raquel for always being there for me when I was happy and sad. I'm sorry, that I am thanking so many people but don't worry it's soon over. Riley and Olivia Harrington are also people I want to thank. They were so nice to me on line for taking the picture. They treat me like competition or as a Two, they treated me as a person with no title. Thank you the people Sumner for listening." I walked off stage.
"Thank you Cassidy for the amazing speech. Now let us all say good bye to our representative!" I smiled and waved goodbye to everyone.
I walked towards the car that would take me to the palace, when someone grabbed me and hugged me. "Scott, what are you doing?"
"Cassidy, don't leave!" I realized he was crying. "I never said the proper goodbye. I'm going to miss you." He kept hugging me.
"I'll miss you too, don't worry but you'll see me on T.V." I laughed. Grace then came and pulled him away and she smiled at me and waved goodbye, tears dripping down her face. As I got into the car, I watched the people I love leave my sight.
My suitcase was already in the trunk of the car and I just sat and chilled in the stretch limo. I thought of how it would be at home when I was gone. Probably the same since I didn't do much.
The car came to a holt. The driver opened the door for me to crawl out of. We arrived at the airport, where I would meet with 3 other selected girls to fly to Angeles with. I rolled my bag to the gate and I was greeted by a chipper lady. "Hi, I'm Claudia! I will be supervising you and 3 other girls on the plane and to the palace. Oh, here is another girl. You two are the last ones." I turned back to see a little girl who had braided, brown pigtails. Her face was white put the rest of her skin was beige. It was pretty tan. Claudia told her exactly what she said to me. "C'mon ladies, let's go."
"Hi." I said.
"Hi, I'm Pippa White of Sota." She grinned at me and put out her hand for me to shake. I shook it firmly.
"Cassidy Green of Sumner."
"I know, I loved that picture of you. You're a Two, right?" I nodded. "I like how you don't care about who you are as a title, you want to have your own style."
"Exactly. That's what I was saying in my speech." I was pleased with Pippa. I thought the competition would be fierce, but I guess I could make friends.
We went around the corner and I saw two other girls. One was about 2 inches shorter than me with ginger-red hair. Her face was painted with freckles, but not as much as me. "Hi I'm Peyton!" She was really cheerful and gave Pippa and I both really big hugs. Pippa didn't seem to like all that, but I really didn't mind. Then I noticed the other girl. She had dirty blonde, straight hair. Her deep, brown eyes made me feel like I was in a trance.
"Hi I'm Clara." She said softly. I nodded acknowledging her.
"I'm Cassidy and this is Pippa." I said introducing my new friend. Peyton talked about her life for a while, trying to make it less awkward. She was a Five and had three brothers and two sisters. She was in the middle.
"Ladies, we are ready to head off to Angeles. Let's board the plane!" Claudia strutted over to us and pranced over to the gate of the plane. I grabbed my suitcase as Peyton looped her arm with mine. I smiled at her and we walked into the plane.
There were two seats per row and I sat in the aisle seat and Peyton say next to me near the window. Clara was talking with Pippa and sitting in the row across from us. The plane started and I really wished I brought gum since my ears popped. Pippa held my hand and I could tell it was her first time on a plane. When we were in the air, she loosened her grip and released her hand from mine. That's when Peyton tapped me on the shoulder and pointed out the window. There were green hills going on and on, it was beautiful. I then sat back and relaxed, soon I would be at the palace, competing to be Illea's next princess.
