Chapter 7
Kellin POV
I glanced up at his face & smiled. Every feature was utterly perfect. Regardless of how cute he was when he was sleeping, I decided to wake him so we could head out. I glanced around, looking for a way to wake him up. I poked his forehead about 6 times, & he didn't wake up. I stood up & stretched my back, then my arms & legs. I scooped up the pizza box from last night & took it over to the lake. I let it fill with water & carried the dripping box over to Vic, then pouring it over his face.
"Gah, Kellin! What the fuck?!" He exclaimed as he sat up, cringing at the cold water like a vampire cringes at the sun.
"Good morning, Sunshine." I tease as I lay down the pizza box. He rolls his eyes at me & calls me a dick.
"Takes one to know one," I respond with a wink. He glares at me & holds out his hand, insinuating for me to help him up. I take his hand & pull him up off the ground. He grabs my hand & smiles brightly at me.
"We should probably head back now," he suggests with a deep sigh. I nod in agreement. We start to walk, taking small, slow strides. The silent walk back to our buses seems to take forever. Eventually, we arrive back to the lot.
"See you at the next date," Vic said as he gave my hand a tight squeeze & placed his lips gently on mine, only for a moment, then pulled away, letting his lips linger.
"I love you." He muttered before letting go of my hand & turning to run off to his bus.
"I love you too!" I shouted behind him. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the guys peeking out the window. I knew I must've had the goofiest smile on my face, but at that point in time, I really didn't give a fuck. I was the happiest man in the world. I headed towards the bus & saw the guys close the curtain & scramble to look like they were never there. I laughed to myself at their stupidity. The second I open the door, I hear Jesse.
"Yeah, sure, babe. Okay, Ash, I love you too. Bye." He acted as if he hit end on his phone. "Oh, hi, Kellin."
"Oh hi, Jesse," I greet mockingly, "nice fake phone call by the way." I say with a wink. His face instantly flushes as he tries to defend himself.
"Whaaat? Um, heh, no I was, uh, I was talking to Ashley. She wanted to tell me that, erm, her & Peanut miss me." I roll my eyes at him & observe the others. Justin's sitting on the couch with a controller in his hands, playing Black Ops on the Xbox. Jack is sprawled next to him, upside down, watching, & Gabe is laying on the floor with his phone, probably playing Angry Birds.
"I know you guys saw, so go ahead, tease & make comments. I know it's killing you." I say as I plop down on a bean bag.
"YOU GUYS ARE ADORABLE!" Justin yells as loud as he possibly can.
"Justin, you 'tard! You were supposed to act like you saw nothing!" Gabe yells as he throws his phone to hit Justin's calf.
"Owww, you bitch!" Justin whines. I laugh at them, & I feel my face flush.
"Can we take attendance & leave? I'm pretty sure ADTR & OM&M left like 10 minutes ago." Jack complains as a retort.
"Ugh, we're all here! Let's go! Attendance is so dumb.." Jesse drones. The bus starts rolling as I take a seat on Jesse's lap.
"So, how are things with Vic? From the look of it, pretty great." Gabe asks quietly. I nod meekly in response.
"What'd you guys do last night? Have fun?" Justin asked with a mischievous smile & a wink.
"No!" I shriek as my cheeks turn blood red, "I mean, yeah, but not that kind of fun."
"Chill, dude. Just a joke." Justin says as he lifts up his hands defensively. I rolled my eyes & laid back on Jesse.
Jack remained quiet most of the day when he was around me. Awkward.
------
That night was quiet. Uncomfortably, so. I tossed & turned in my bunk, aching to hold Vic next to me. Jack must've noticed, since he has the bunk right under mine, because he popped his head in my small area with a restless expression on his face.
"Kellin, lay still. I'm trying to sleep." He sounded extremely irritated, & I rolled over to face him.
"Sorry. I'm just restless. I wish Vic would've rode our bus." Jack sighed & plopped back down into his bunk.
"Yeah, I know." He muttered bitterly. I poked my head down into his bunk.
"Dude, does it bother you that I'm...you know..."
"A fucking queer?" A small pain formed in my chest at the thought that my friend, practically my brother, felt that way about me.
"Well, I suppose you could say it that way." I replied softly. He sighed heavily.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean that. It doesn't really bother me, necessarily. Just, I think it's kind of...awkward. I mean, I've known you for 4 years, & now, you're suddenly gay?"
"No, I just, it's always been there. Ever since I was 17. There's been certain guys that I found myself attracted to, but I always ignored it. Vic's the first guy that I haven't been able to hold back that feeling for."
"If you've always known you liked guys, then why the hell did you marry a woman?"
"Well, Kate made me feel special. I thought that all that time, I'd just been feeling something that was completely normal. But then, Vic..."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Vic was different. I swear, Kellin, your life is turning into one of those crazy fan fictions." He said, rolling over to face the wall.
"Well, that doesn't really bother me, Jack. Things are going great, & if that's how the fan fictions go, then I like them, & I don't mind living it out." I pulled my head back up into my own space & pulled the blanket up to my chin as I closed my eyes.
