Chapter 9

Vic POV

"What the fuck happened?" I asked, knelt beside kellin who was still sound asleep on the couch.

"Jack was giving him shit about being gay, so he got pissed, punched him in the jaw & ran off. It took a couple of hours to find him." Austin explained. I grabbed Kellin's hand in mine & pressed it against my lips.

"I love you, Kels." I whispered softly. His head moved slightly & his eyes slowly fluttered open with a moan.

"V-Vic?"

"Yeah, Kels. It's me this time. I'm here." A small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

"I-I love...you t-too." At that moment, all I could see in his green eyes, was love mixed with fear.

"Kellin, are you okay?" I asked quietly. He shook his head slightly & closed his eyes again.

"I'm afraid to lose you. Wh-what if Jack's r-right? What if this really d-does destroy the...bands?" I could tell he was slowly gaining back his energy & control because he began to stutter less, & fit more words in per breath.

"You'll never lose me, & the bands will be fine. This won't hurt anything. I promise." I sat down, stretching my legs out, & rested my head next to his, still holding his hand. Austin cleared his throat.

"Well, maybe we should get him back to his bus-"

"No." Kellin mumbled.

"What?" Austin asked, leaning closer to Kellin's head to hear him easier.

"No. I'm not riding that b-bus anymore."

"Kellin, the tour-"

"He can ride my bus. The guys won't mind." I piped.

"I mean, if that's what he wants to do. I'll text Justin & have him bring your stuff. But Kellin, you can't hide from him forever." He warned as he whipped out his phone to contact Justin. Kellin sighed & closed his eyes.

Justin POV

"Okay, no problem, I'll get his stuff over there." I said as I hung up with Austin. "Guys, Kellin's going to be on the Pierce The Veil bus for the rest of tour travel." I informed them.

"What?! Why?!" Gabe asked.

"Because of Asshole over there." I answered, gesturing to Jack. He hung his head & rested his forehead in his hand.

"But he's my bro! We've been besties since forever!" Jesse whined.

"We'll it's not because of you, man." I said as I glanced daggers in Jack's direction. I walked over to Kellin's bunk & put all his things back in his suitcase that he'd packed. Once outside, I let it drop to the ground as I extended the handle.

"Anybody coming?" I asked, looking over my shoulder. Jesse shoved his phone in his pocket & joined me outside the bus door. I smiled at him & we started the short walk over to Pierce The Veil's bus.

"So he's really riding with them? The rest of the tour?" I nodded slowly. Jesse sighed heavily.

"Man, this is a bunch of shit. Why couldn't Jack just keep his fucking mouth shut?"

"I don't know," I shrugged, "he's just being an asshole." We arrived at the door of the big, green bus in almost no time at all. Jaime let us in. When we stepped inside, the first thing we saw was Vic & Kellin sitting close together on the small couch. They were holding hands, which rested on Kellin's leg, & Kellin had his head nestled against Vic's shoulder while Vic's head leaned lightly on his. Kellin still had his eyes closed, once again asleep.

"Is it healthy for him to sleep this much?" Vic asked when he saw us.

Jesse replied, "He's probably still just really tired. Not only that, but when you're stressed out or depressed-"

"He's not depressed. It can't happen that quickly can it?"

"Vic, he can't see his daughter anymore, & his so called brother said that he can't stand to be around him. You really think that's settling well? I wouldn't rule out depression." Vic's eyes fell to the ground, not knowing what to say.

"Anyway," I interrupted to break the silence, "here's his shit. Have fun with him." I said with a smile, pulling Jesse off the bus.

-Late that night-

Kellin POV (dreaming)

I was laying in a field. The sun was shining bright, & there wasn't a single cloud in the sky. I felt a slight breeze nip at my face. I sat up, putting my hands on the ground for support. I noticed a small girl, no older than 6, running through the middle of the field. I got up, curious as to where her parents were, & walked slowly over to her. She wore a light purple sundress with bunnies lining the bottom which blew slightly behind her. Her long brown hair blew beautifully around her face, which had the biggest smile imaginable sprawled across it.

"Excuse me?" I said to her. She stopped running & looked back at me. I instantly recognized her the second my eyes laid upon her face. She looked different, because the last time I'd seen her, she was a baby. Nevertheless, I could never forget those bright eyes, that smile, & the same chubby cheeks that she hadn't quite outgrown. This was Copeland. She had grown into such a beautiful little girl, & I could feel a ridiculous smile spread across my lips. It felt like forever since I'd seen her.

"Cope?" Fear struck across her face, & she didn't respond.

"Cope, it's daddy." I urged, still smiling.

"I don't know my daddy." She said in the most high pitched but adorable voice possible. I felt the smile fade from my face.

"W-what?"

"Mommy says he left us when I was little." She couldn't pronounce her L's, so it sounded like 'wittle.'

"No, no, cope! I'm your daddy, baby. I miss you so much. If it had been my choice, I'd have seen you every single day." She still looked scared beyond belief.

"You're a liar!" She turned to run again, & she ran right into someone's arms. Katelynne. When had she gotten there?

"Go away, kellin. She doesn't know you anymore..." Then she turned, walking into the distance.

"Wait, please! Kate! Copeland!" She continued on as if she didn't hear me at all. I fell to my knees, putting my face in my hands. I felt tears pour down my face. "Copeland! Please!" I yelled. It was the most excruciating pain I'd ever felt...

Vic POV

"Copeland! Please!" Kellin screamed as tears streaked down his face.

"Kelllin, wake up! Wake up!" I yelled as I shook his shoulder violently. His eyes shot open, releasing even more tears. "Kels, it's 2am. It was only a dream." It took him a second to register that, but when he did, he latched onto me as if he were drowning & I was his life preserver. I held him tight against me in my bunk. His body shook violently with each sob. It was hours before he finally stopped quivering & sobbing. Needless to say, I got no sleep that night.
